Sightline Hospitality is Hiring an Events and Marketing Manager - Radio Hotel Near New York, NY

Radio Hotel and Jalao NYC are looking for an exceptional individual with hotel experience to handle events for Jalao as well as social media for both the hotel and restaurant. This Events and Marketing Manager position will oversee the promotion, sales, coordination, and facilitation of Catering events, to ensure the maximum satisfaction of customers. Responsible for assisting properties with all marketing, digital marketing, branding, programming, and public-facing initiatives, as directed by corporate and the property’s General Manager.
About the Hotel and Restaurant
The Radio Hotel is a 221room hotel, mixed-use high rise, located at 2420 Amsterdam Avenue in the Washington Heights area in Northern Manhattan. The Hotel incorporates the unique look and feel of the Washington Heights neighborhood, catering to both the local Latin community and international travelers looking for affordable yet stylish rooms below the steep asking prices of downtown Manhattan hotels. This 22-story building combines hotel, restaurant – Jalao NYC, retail, and office functions in vibrantly stacked blocks, reflecting the vivacious character of the neighborhood. Washington Heights is the 5th largest neighborhood in New York with a population of over 150,000 people, but it is currently served by just two hotels. The event space adds a facility that did not previously exist in the neighborhood, offering locals a space to host weddings and other parties with spectacular views from the adjacent rooftop terrace.

Essential Job Functions:
  • To understand and respond to all guest needs and requests in a timely manner to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Understand and work to attain pre-set monthly revenue goals for Events, as determined by the Jalao General Manager.
  • Plan, coordinate, and ensure proper execution of all aspects of all events, including menu selection; room set up and service; flowers and decorations; entertainment; and all other special requests.
  • To create banquet event orders, detailing each event’s purpose, menu, décor, billing instructions, and all special instructions to operational departments of the hotel.
  • To produce all correspondence, including inquiry letters, contractual letters, deposit confirmations, and “thank you” letters.
  • To provide prompt and professional response, over the telephone or through correspondence, to all inquiries regarding hotel facilities and catering capabilities.
  • To block appropriate space to best, utilize hotel facilities.
  • To personally conduct informational tours of the facility with all prospective clients.
  • To meet and greet clients prior to scheduled functions and introduce them to key hotel staff.
  • To actively pursue prospective clients for future and possible repeat business, both over the telephone and during social and professional events, and trade shows.
  • Train staff on all departmental SOPs and ensure there is understanding and compliance.
  • To use good time management skills in prioritizing work and scheduling appointments.
  • To communicate last-minute changes in group functions to hotel and restaurant staff and ensure satisfactory follow-up.
  • To create a daily prospectus this includes the above information for each group’s food and beverage events.
  • To act as a liaison between restaurant, hotel and groups, ensuring space is appropriately set up, and handling any special client requests.
  • To extend a courteous, friendly, and professional greeting to guests as they arrive, and to thank them as they depart.
  • To comply with and promote all company policies and procedures.
  • To immediately report all suspicious occurrences and hazardous conditions.
  • To always maintain the cleanliness and safety of work areas and to practice safe work habits at all times, to avoid injury to self and others.
  • Focus on safety and the following of safe work practices by yourself and those under your direction. Including compliance with company safety standards, and state and local regulations that pertain to your department.
  • To attend all mandatory meetings as directed.
  • To perform other tasks, including cross-training, as directed.
MARKETING:
  • Serve as the marketing champion for the hotel, coordinating and managing all marketing projects to ensure everything public facing – be it collateral, programming, events, digital material, and the like – is on brand.
  • Support digital and offline content marketing efforts to meet goals for increased awareness, traffic growth, and lead generation.
  • Assist to develop, execute, social media campaigns.
  • Assist with monthly marketing and email campaigns calendar, with all key initiatives spelled out, so that all relevant parties are kept informed.
  • Work with the management team to achieve defined business objectives.
  • Follow Sightline Corporate communication guidelines.
  • Create and manage a monthly onsite and offsite programming calendar in-line with the property’s positioning and goals.
  • Communicate and inform property and corporate Sightline team of property programming.
  • Work with the General Manager and property Operations and F&B teams to ensure excellent execution of all programs and events.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with brand partners internally and alongside the external public relations team.
  • Work with brand partners to establish sponsored events to defer marketing dollars.
  • Stay plugged in and up to date on destination happenings, in order to align our marketing efforts with on-brand developments in the market.
  • Engage in the local area(s) creative scenes, events, parties, and social settings.
  • Network, develop local contacts and build awareness about the hotels and restaurant’s facilities, etc. 
  • Assist with developing a social media strategy individual to each hotel entity, with guidance from corporate.
  • Drive engagement on social media channels by creating and managing daily content.
  • Stay up to date on the latest social media marketing developments.
  • Responding to queries in a timely manner
  • Maintain property communications folders on shared drives.
  • Work with the DOSM, restaurant GM and external public relations team to ensure messaging is consistent.
  • Oversee photoshoots (internal and external/with partners)

Experience/Aptitudes:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Sales and Marketing or Hotel Management, or equivalent experience required.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience in the local market a plus.

  • Creative ability to identify and develop new partnerships and collaborative opportunities with each hotel entity.
  • Proficient in social media platforms and social media dashboards
Essential Physical Abilities:
  • Must be able to work at a computer for extended periods of time.
  • Must be flexible to work irregular hours, to accommodate partner schedules.
  • Must be able to travel as needed and spend substantial time on property at various locations to support events and initiatives.
  • Must be able to work well under pressure.
