Scott County Catholic Schools is Hiring a Director of Human Resources Near Davenport, IA

Overview:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Human Resources to lead our HR department. The ideal candidate will oversee all aspects of human resources functions and drive strategic HR initiatives to support the organization's goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Upholds the mission and vision of SCCS.
  • Oversees the recruitment of employees, as well as the interviewing, hiring and onboarding process.
  • Manages the daily workflow of the HR department, including the supervision of HR department employees.
  • Reviews and/or helps facilitate discipline and termination of employees in accordance with SCCS policies.
  • Collaborates with others to understand staffing needs and implement appropriate strategies related to recruitment and retention.
  • Stays up-to-date on HR compliance issues and ensures SCCS’s policies align with all requirements from local, state, and federal laws and regulations and Diocesan policies.
  • Reviews all HR-related policies and procedures and makes recommendations for modifications as needed.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, and new technologies in the HR field.
  • Administers and/or oversees the administration of HR programs, including, but not limited to, employee compensation, benefits, leave time, disciplinary matters, disputes, investigations, performance management, occupational health and safety, workers’ compensation, and HR-related training.
  • Maintains the HR information management system and ensures it meets the SCCS needs.
  • Facilitates professional development and training initiatives for compliance and education.
  • Reviews job descriptions and revise as needed or develop new job descriptions as required.
  • Promotes and facilitates activities that encourage positive employee relations.
  • Oversees the performance management system and ensures all employees receive a timely review of their job performance.
  • Manages all risk management activities including workers compensation and safety standards.
  • Completes special projects and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in a variety of activities within schools or in corporations
  • Leadership experience
  • Non-profit experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or another related field is required.
  • Human resources management experience or related experience required. Five years’ experience is highly recommended.
  • Human Resources certification PHR (professional) or SPHR/SHRM-CP (certified professional) or SHRM-SCP (senior certified professional) highly preferred.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Knowledge of laws, regulations, and practices involved in the HR field.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in written form with individuals and in large groups.
  • Ability to work with people of varying backgrounds and at different levels within the SCCS system.
  • More than basic knowledge of computer systems, usage, and functions.
  • A clear and demonstrated commitment to the vision, mission and values of SCCS Catholic Schools.
  • Compliance with all established SCCS policies, protocols and procedures.
  • Careful and secure treatment of all information and data, with primary emphasis on confidentiality.
  • Interest and willingness to seek opportunities for continuing education and development appropriate to one's position in the organization
