PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES

SAP Design is a centralized team that focuses on building a best-in-class product experience to scale across all of SAP’s products and services. The practice areas within SAP Design are focused on building a center of excellence. We will achieve this by evolving our design language system Fiori, developing research fundamental to understanding our customer experience, and inclusive design as a holistic practice. The SAP Design story will grow by building our brand through the creative studio and impact achieved through strategy and design operations.  

As a Principal Product Designer in the SAP Design team you feel responsible for your work and accompany your concepts throughout the development life cycle, and you are continuously broadening your horizon on design methodologies, technologies, and upcoming trends. You will become part of an exciting and international design team of about 100 designers who work in the heart of SAP, operating across organizational boundaries with touch points to all continents and cultures. 

ROLE REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• You are a natural collaborator and excellent communicator, able to develop and present design ideas in a large team environment.  

• You will work closely with cross-functional teams such as Engineering, Production, Product Marketing, and Senior Management.  
• Prior experience working within a technical environment is a key requirement.
• You should possess extraordinary visual and user interface design skills, as well as user-centered design principals.  
• You have an affinity for consistency, color use, typography, and a keen eye for subtle details.  
• While exercising a good eye for aesthetics, you are able to grasp and distill highly complex issues and translate them into clean, focused, understandable solutions.  

• Interest in new technologies in web, mobile, and other devices is required.  
• You should be a self-starter, self-motivated, able to work independently, and perform multiple tasks under minimal supervision.  

WORK EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

• 8years’ work experience with a focus on product design and UI across a variety of platforms. 
• A great eye for detail, demonstrated creative and innovative problem-solving skills.
• Experience designing UI products from conception to completion including the development process. 
• Ability to clearly communicate concepts and designs through sketches, wireframes, high fidelity comps, and prototypes. 
• Able to function both, independently and in team environment with solid collaboration skills. 
• Enthusiasm and history working in an iterative design process, motivated by group critique. 
• Excellent written and verbal communication with ability to present work to large groups and executives. 
• Bachelor’s Degree in Interaction, Graphic Design, Media Arts or similar.
• Ability to prototype in HTML/CSS/JavaScript, AfterEffects, or other tools. 
• Experience in mobile app or component design is a plus.
• You have a stunning portfolio that displays a spectrum of creative design solutions.
• Experience working with international teams is a plus.
• Extreme empathy for the customer, your teammates, and the company mission.
