We host hundreds of events per year across all our venues and post our schedules 4 weeks out so you can plan your shifts well in advance!

Job Description:

Operated by Rye Venue Management, this is an event-style bartending job, usually revolving around weddings and receptions, as well as corporate events. We have multiple venues in Grand Rapids that we deploy bar staff to including New Vintage Place, the Grand Rapids Art Museum, the Ballroom at McKay, and The Lit. The service itself generally revolves around shot and pops, wine, and beer, with easy cocktails like Margaritas, Mules, and Old Fashioneds. These are often high volume events and the shifts are generally 8-10 hours. Since our events are usually weddings and corporate events, a high level of professionalism and decorum while serving is required.

We are extremely flexible with scheduling, allowing our staff to choose which events they would like to work. We post the schedule a month out and assign shifts at the end of the week they were posted. We try to make sure that our staff have adequate time to pick up shifts that fit into their lifestyles and those that want to work a lot of shifts can.

We are also looking for Lead Bartenders! The Lead Bartender is a supervisory role and is responsible for executing service, delegating tasks to other bartenders/attendants/bar backs, keeping open communication with the Beverage Services Manager, taking inventory, counting cash, distributing tips, adding post-event notes for the Executives, as well as other tasks set by the Beverage Services Manager. The Lead Bartender runs the bar service when on site while reporting to the Manager on Duty (MOD)/Event Manager. We will train any of our bartenders to be Lead Bartenders if they show interest and initiative!

Qualifications:

• Previous experience as a bartender or barback. Server training will be considered depending on experience.
• Previous event bartending a plus but not required.
• Positive demeanor and professional, guest-focused service in a busy bar setting.
• Knowledge of POS systems and cash handling (we use Square).
• Able to comfortably lift and move 30 pounds.
• Able to stand and move around for 8-10 hours.
• Relevant training certificates: TIPS, ServSafe, etc. (We can get this for you if you don't already have the certificate).

Requirements:

• Prepare alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages for guests.
• Monitor guest consumption and serve responsibly.
• Restock and replenish bar inventory and supplies each shift.
• Stay guest-focused and nurture a positive experience.
• Complete opening and closing checklists each shift to company standards.
• Assist event attendants and MODs with tear down after event.
• Must work 2 shifts per pay period (pay is every other week) or 4 shifts per two pay periods.
• Conform to all State and Federal laws regarding alcohol service.
