Description

Position: Senior Environmental Specialist

Department: Environmental

Location: Houston, Tx

RQAW Corporation is currently seeking a senior environmental specialist to serve as our environmental manager in our Houston, TX office. This is an excellent career opportunity for an enthusiastic and talented individual to join our team of outstanding professionals and manage a growing department. The individual will complete/manage work associated with Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) NEPA regulations, public involvement, federal 404 permitting (which includes all aspects of delineation, mitigation and monitoring), and other aspects of NEPA regulations. The individual must have the ability to manage and mentor environmental staff.

Position Summary

  • Manage and grow a team of environmental professionals.
  • Manage and oversee NEPA documents and processes.
  • Manage and complete regulatory permits for transportation projects and private development.
  • Manage client relationships and quality control.
  • Manage and lead all public involvement efforts.
  • Leads staff with various state, federal, and local regulatory processes, such as Waters of the U.S. reports, wetland delineation, mitigation design and monitoring.
  • Document and summarize results of field investigations and analyses.
  • Provide client and regulatory agency coordination.
  • Perform technical work and develop project execution strategies.
  • Oversees/assists Environmental Scientists’ work in field investigations and reports.
  • Assists in preparation of scopes of work, fee proposals, and responses to RFP’s.
  • Complete NEPA documents/tasks as needed.
  • Work with other senior management to manage projects.
  • Assist with work in additional states as needed.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Powerpoint, ArcPro, and/or other GIS programs

Required Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in natural resource management, environmental or natural science, biology, planning, ecology, or a related field, plus 10 years of experience with essential functions and responsibilities as outlined above.
  • Have current TxDOT prequalification’s.

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Regular field work in a variety of seasonal conditions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Local and occasional statewide travel is required for this position.
