Description

Registered Behavior Technicians implement Applied Behavioral Analysis ("ABA") programs, interventions, and supports that focus on decreasing maladaptive behaviors and increasing social, communication, and adaptive skills with clients affected by special needs. This would be done in a direct one-to-to setting and/or with another staff to model de-escalation, assistance, training and support to these staff members. It is expected that this person is familiar with the governing rules, regulations within the school/day treatment, as well as the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) Ethical Compliance Codes.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Follow Roundup and BCBA Supervisor direction regarding responsibilities, performance, and ABA Program Suggestions.
  • Provide direct student supervision in 1:1 and group settings utilizing a combination of intensive teaching and natural environment training arrangements.
  • Follow the prescribed behavioral skill acquisition and behavior reduction protocols.
  • Model for other staff how to set up and manipulate environments for learning to decrease distractions and ensure client safety.
  • Model antecedent and consequence strategies before and after the student is escalated.
  • Provide support with all behavior escalations.
  • Communicate with the BCBA on new or increasing maladaptive behaviors.
  • Collect daily data and model for other staff how to do so in a clear, accurate, and organized manner.
  • Communicate with the BCBA on new or increasing maladaptive behaviors.
  • Use creativity and leadership to model for other staff how to engage clients in a safe learning environment.
  • Attend and participate in mandatory supervision sessions with the BCBA for 5% of the monthly hours.
  • Commitment to uphold the BACB Ethical Code throughout all areas of the job.
  • Collaborate with treatment team including students, parents and caregivers, outside professionals, co-workers, and other stakeholders.
  • Provide feedback to other paras using the principles of behavior to increase program fidelity
  • Participate in training that is required for Round up, as well as annual renewal of the RBT Competencies
  • Follow and record data for behavioral training protocols, collect, record, and summarize data on observable student behavior.
  • Effectively communicate with school staff regarding student progress as instructed by the BCBA.
  • Assist in developing materials and providing resources for district staff using evidence-based methodologies, such as Applied Behavior Analysis, related to addressing the needs of students.
  • Monitor use of programs developed for each student to ensure treatment integrity across all paraprofessionals and teachers.
  • Maintain client confidentiality.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
  • Maintain and acquire technical knowledge by attending required trainings.
  • Provide feedback to paras based on supervision/observation forms.
  • Responsible for supporting and maintaining a physically and psychologically safe environment.
  • Uphold principles of the trauma informed principles of Roundup Fellowship,
  • Participate in training and events that specifically address the intersection of trauma with culture, history, race, gender, location, and language,
  • Recognize the impact of vicarious trauma on the workforce and continually assess in supervision signs and symptoms of vicarious trauma as well as self-care plans,
  • Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with clients, co-workers, supervisors, and community members.
  • Ability to adhere to organizational policies and procedures and abide by code of ethics as indicated by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board
  • Commitment to maintain client confidentiality and adhere to HIPPA laws.
  • Commitment to ongoing training and development as it relates to clinical skills, professional development, ethics, and technology, and training in order to perform job responsibilities to required standard.
  • Ability to interpret and implement clinical protocols and written.
  • Must maintain a professional appearance with regard to clothing, grooming, hair, and make-up.

BASIC & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be 25 years of age or older.
  • High school graduate (or equivalent) and four years’ experience working with children OR a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Colorado Driver’s license and the ability to drive a 10 passenger vehicle.
  • Must participate in activities in the community with the students.
  • Must maintain Registered Behavior Technician certification.
  • Successful completion of the full Safety Care Certification.
  • Must be able to assume and maintain a variety of postures (kneeling, squatting, crawling, sitting, standing) for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to sit on the floor or stand for extended periods of time.
  • Must be willing and able to restrain/hold/transport and utilize quick body movements as indicated in the Behavior Intervention Plan in the course of working with children with challenging behavior.
  • Must have manual dexterity to perform specific computer and electronic device functions for data collection.
  • Must be physically present at the assigned job location, which may include home, school, and community placements.
  • Must be able to receive detailed information through oral communication.
  • Must have visual acuity to read and comprehend written communication through computer, electronic devices, and paper means.
