Truckload Account Manager
RoadOne is a large, privately-held transportation company comprised of both asset-based and brokerage divisions. Our asset division has over 2,000 trucks at 75 terminals around the country. Our well-known and established brokerage division, RoadOne Logistics Services (ROLS), is looking to accelerate its growth by adding key talent to our Tampa, FL based brokerage team.
As a Truckload Account Manager, you will be responsible to maintain and grow our existing truckload brokerage business. This position will oversee the entire lifecycle of shipments, from quoting and price negotiation with customers and carriers all the way through delivery, providing exceptional customer service along the way. You will work with our operations team as well as our current and potential carrier base to match customer shipments to appropriate carriers to assure shipments are picked up and delivered on time. This is done by sourcing carriers and negotiating rates and properly managing expectations. In doing so, you will also be responsible to grow and develop a carrier base you can rely on. You will provide information on supply and demand along with pricing, while trouble-shooting issues as they arise. Operations is a key function of this position: providing necessary information to team members, customers and carriers about the status of shipments, while also handling and resolving issues. A goal of our team is consistent, proactive communication.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
· Maintain and grow existing truckload business.
· Establish relationships with carriers throughout North America; onboard and qualify new carriers.
· Make calls and send emails to capture market capacity; negotiate on a high level; book trucks on loads in a profitable, efficient manner.
· Develop relationships with carriers to grow them into reliable core carriers.
· Price shipments, gather and negotiate pricing and costs, and respond to requests for quotes.
· Enter shipments into the RoadOne platform and schedule appointments.
· Responsible for coordinating/overseeing the movement of each load from dispatch to delivery.
· Track and trace shipments through our system, outbound calls and emails.
· Anticipate and identify problems and proactively work to solve them.
· Update internal & external portals and stakeholders with shipment details as needed.
· Resolve necessary questions and issues related to shipments in transit as needed.
· Other duties as needed and as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
· Experience in truckload transportation or brokerage. The more experience the better.
· Excellent communication abilities, both written and verbal.
· Excellent computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office software.
· Self-starter with the ability to effectively multi-task when necessary.
· Flexible; able to effectively work in fast-paced environment.
· Ability to work independently and make informed decisions.
· Ability to work with a sense of urgency while paying close attention to details; detail-oriented.
· Associates degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
