Job Description: Behavioral Health Technician

Responsibilities:

Under general supervision performs work of average difficulty by providing information and referral, home-based counseling, and under established protocol, group services and limited community interventions; performs related work as required.

Duties:

Interviews clients and significant others, conducts intake assessments to obtain social data; provides information and referral to clients in need of community services; provides crisis intervention; provides outreach and advocacy for clients in the community and health care system; provides case management and counseling to assigned clients; may provide staff training, collects, and compile statistical data for the facility.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of human behavior, family and group dynamics, social and cultural factors, interventions for individual, family, and social change.

Skills in interviewing and counseling.

Ability to establish effective working relationships with clients, staff, and community organizations.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s degree in a field related to direct human or behavioral health services, Bachelor’s degree and one-year full time human or behavioral health work experience, AA Degree and sic months human or behavioral health work experience; High school or GED education and two years full time human or behavioral health work experience. An employee must be at least 21 years old and obtain fingerprint clearance.

• Associate (Preferred)

Experience:

• Mental & Behavioral Health Technicians: 2 years (Preferred)
• Behavioral health: 2 years (Preferred)

License/Certification:

• Driver's License (Preferred)
