If you are looking to build a strong career, we have an opportunity for you! We are searching for a Human Resources Specialist to join our team located at our facility in Jacksonville, IL.

Your Role :

The Human Resources Specialist is responsible for supporting the Human Resources function with all personnel-related goals to ensure employees receive excellent customer service.

The Specialist also takes an active role in ensuring all tasks related to payroll, benefits, talent, HRIS, and employee relations are complete in a timely manner.

You will have the opportunity to :

  • Typically support plant of 400 employees plus temporary associates.
  • Under guidance of the HR Manager / HR Representative, provide HR support to plant population including employee relations on a variety of issues including benefits, retirement, policy enforcement, etc.
  • Utilize discretion and independent judgement when interpreting policies.
  • Partner with the Center of Excellence to coordinate the hiring of new hourly employees and ensure employment decisions follow company policy and employment laws.
  • Partner with shift supervisors to determine hiring needs and ensure proper staffing levels.
  • Coordinate and facilitate the Orientation and Onboarding process, such as hiring of hourly employees, preparing for orientation, facilitating the orientation, and conducting proper follow-up post-sessions.
  • Prepare and plan for local employee engagement and recognition, including Service Awards and Anniversaries.
  • Assist HR Manager / HR Representative with investigations.
  • Gather data related to EEOC, DOL, and unemployment claims.
  • Size, scope, and complexity of assigned portfolio are factors in the level of responsibility.
  • In locations where applicable, responsible to comply with the SQF and GMP practices and programs to ensure safe food packaging product and to report food safety problems to those with authority to take action.

We need you to have :

  • BA / BS degree in Human Resources or related field.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Knowledge of applicable state, federal, and local employment labor laws and regulations.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills and the ability to communicate and influence at all levels within the organization.
  • Self-directed with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple accountabilities and multiple internal customers.
  • Strong analytical skills as well as organizational skills.
  • Skills in handling conflict resolution situations.
  • Ability to objectively coach employees and management through complex and difficult issues.
  • Ability to be discreet with confidential information and sensitive issues.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule during key business deadlines.
  • Must be team oriented with the ability to work on high collaboration and performance teams.
