Rescue Mission is Hiring a Human Resource Generalist Near Syracuse, NY

Human Resource Generalist

Location: Main Campus, Syracuse NY 13202
Payrate: $25 per hour 

 At Rescue Mission, the tradition of sheltering and feeding those in need has continued over the decades. Today, the Rescue Mission Alliance operates programs helping men, women and children in Syracuse, Auburn, and Binghamton, New York. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Human Resource Generalist to join our HR team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in HR and be able to handle a variety of tasks related to employee relations, recruitment, and compliance. This is a full-time position supporting our Homeless Shelter Program employees in Syracuse, NY. 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the recruitment process, including job postings, resume screening, and interviewing candidates 
  • Must be familiar or willing to learn the pre-employment background screening process under DOH, OMH and OCFS
  • Assist with onboarding new employees, including conducting orientation sessions and processing new hire paperwork
  • Provide guidance and support to employees on HR-related issues, including benefits, policies, and procedures
  • Assists with benefit enrollments, employee leave requests, FMLA, Workers’ Compensation, and disability
  • Manage employee relations issues, including conducting investigations and resolving conflicts
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state employment laws and regulations
  • Assist with performance management, including conducting performance evaluations and providing feedback to employees and managers
  • Manage HR-related projects and initiatives as assigned

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field
  • 3 years of experience in Human Resources
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws and regulations
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and HRIS systems (Paycor)
  • Valid NYS Driver License in compliance with Rescue Mission safety policy.
  • Comfort in presenting to an audience of varying sizes; public speaking ability preferred
  • Spanish speaking preferred.
