RaceTrac Company Overview
Job Description:
The Director of Field Human Resources leads the strategic vision and oversight of the day-to-day operations of Field Human Resources including, but not limited to, Onboarding, Training Delivery, Talent Development, Employee Engagement and Retention, and Employee Relations. This strategic role collaborates closely with HR and Operations leadership, Legal, and HR Centers of Expertise to develop, implement, and monitor HR policies, procedures, and initiatives that align with RaceTrac's business objectives while ensuring compliance with legal regulations. This individual leads a team of regionally-based HR leaders who drive the established HR strategy in their regions and manage day-to-day HR operations and execution of initiatives.
This role will require travel 30% of the time or more.
Responsibilities:
  • Leads the creation of the strategic plan for Field Human Resources and related teams, while ensuring all decisions, initiatives, and projects are aligned with RaceTrac's strategic vision and company goals. Guides the work of the teams on all departmental projects in support of HR, Operations, and company objectives.
  • Acts as an advisor and consultant to all business leaders in their areas of responsibility. Serves as the voice of our store teams and regional team members in all interactions, projects, communication, and decisions made within and outside of HR.
  • Builds relationships and drives partnerships with Operations Leadership, HR Leadership, Legal, HR Centers of Expertise and other key stakeholders. Encourages and fosters a collaborative environment that results in an aligned approach and ensures consistency on everything from day-to-day processes to strategic initiatives.
  • Stays abreast of industry trends, business practices, and best-in-class processes, within areas of responsibility, to strengthen RaceTrac's competitive advantage.
  • Guides and develops onboarding, development, and retention strategies to enhance employee engagement and reduce turnover. Collaborates with Learning and Development resources and Operations Leaders to deliver high-quality training and development programs.
  • Provides guidance and support to field leaders on employee relations issues, including performance management, disciplinary actions, and conflict resolution. Functions as the supportive decision maker and coach on Field Human Resources issues.
  • Collects and analyzes HR data to identify trends, monitor key performance indicators, and make data-driven decisions to improve HR processes and practices. Presents to senior management on HR metrics, initiatives, and outcomes.
  • Ensures compliance with labor laws and company policies across all field locations, addressing any legal or ethical concerns promptly and appropriately.
  • Cultivates an environment of growth for the Field HR teams by creating unique development plans, giving regular feedback, planning for succession, and encouraging cross-departmental work relationships.
  • Models and promotes RaceTrac's Core Values, Leadership Qualities, and The RaceTrac Way throughout personal interactions and department work.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; Master's degree or HR certification preferred. A combination of relevant working experience and education in lieu of a completed degree will be considered.
  • 8 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role overseeing field HR operations.
  • Experience supporting a distributed/decentralized, hourly, guest-focused workforce in a multi-state, multi-unit environment strongly preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of HR best practices, employment laws, and regulations; experience with a wide variety of HR functions a plus.
  • Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive change, innovate, and adapt to evolving business needs.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, HRIS systems, and other HR-related software and tools.
  • Ability to effectively design and deliver communications for employees at all levels in the organization.
