Queens Nassau Rehabilitation and Nursing Center is Hiring a Nurse Supervisor (Evening 3-11 PM) Near Queens, NY

Summary:The primary purpose of your job position is to supervise the day-to-day nursing activities of the facility during your tour of duty. Such supervision must be in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern our facility, and as may be required by the Director of Nursing Services, to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times.

Position:This is a full-time position, with a typical work week being 40 hours total and overtime when necessary

Qualifications:

·Must possess, as a minimum, a Nursing Degree from an accredited college or university or graduate from an approved RN/LVN program.

·Must have at least one (2) year of experience as a supervisor in a hospital, nursing care facility, or other related healthcare facility.

·Must have training in rehabilitative and restorative nursing practices.

·Must possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as an RN/LVN in this state.

Essential Functions:

Responsible for, but not limited to:

·Assist the Director of Nursing Services in directing the day-to-day functions of the nursing activities in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern the long-term care facility.

·Participate in developing and maintaining written policies and procedures that govern the day-to-day functions of the nursing service department.

·Ensure that reference material (i.e., PDR’S, regulations, professional standards of practice, etc.) maintained at the nurses’ stations is current.

·Ensure that all nursing service personnel comply with the procedures set forth in the Nursing Service Procedures Manual.

·Make written and oral reports/recommendations to the supervising RN/ Director as necessary/required, concerning the operation of the nursing service department.

·Ensure that all nursing service personnel are in compliance with their respective job descriptions.

·Participate in the development, maintenance and implementation of the facility’s quality assurance program for the nursing service department.

·Participate in facility survey preparation and inspections made by authorized government agencies as requested by the Administrator or Director of Nursing Services.

·Periodically review the resident’s written discharge plan. Participate in the updating of the resident’s written discharge plan as required.

·Assist the Director in planning the nursing services portion of the resident’s discharge plan as necessary.

·Meet with the nursing staff, as well as support personnel, in planning the department’s services, programs, and activities.

·Participate in the admission, transfer, and discharge of residents, ensuring completion of all required protocols.

·Under the supervisor of a registered nurse , the RN supervisor will initiate and participate in the completion of accident/incident reports, new wound investigations, complaint reports, and audits assigned. The RN will assist with other compliance reporting as necessary.

·Interpret the department’s policies and procedures to personnel, residents, visitors, and government agencies as required.

·Perform administrative duties such as completing medical forms, reports, evaluations, studies, charting, etc., as necessary.

·Ensure that a sufficient number of licensed practical and/or registered nurses are available for your tour of duty to ensure that quality care is maintained.

·Ensure that a sufficient number of certified nursing assistants are available for your tour of duty to ensure that routine nursing care is provided to meet the daily nursing care needs of each resident.

·Develop work assignments, and/or assist in completing and performing such tasks.

·Delegate to each Charge Nurse the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary to perform his/her assigned duties.

·Identify, evaluate and address changes in condition , acute incidents and clinical concerns timely ,under the direction of a registered nurse. The RN Supervisor will involve all relevant departments including but not limited to medical services.

·Ensure that all nurse aide trainees are under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse.

·Participate in developing, planning, conducting, and scheduling in-service training classes that provide instructions on “how to do the job,” and ensure a well-educated nursing service department.

·Participate under the direction of a registered nurse in the development of a written plan of care (preliminary and comprehensive) for each resident that identifies the problems/needs of the resident

·Review resident care plans for appropriate resident goals, problems, approaches, and recommend revisions based on nursing needs.

·Ensure that all personnel involved in providing care to the resident are aware of the resident’s care plan. Ensure that nursing personnel refer to the resident’s care plan prior to administering daily care to the resident.

·Conduct environmental and care quality rounds on units during the shift. Addressing all areas of concern as needed.

·Review resident charts, nurses’ notes and medical treatments to determine appropriateness of treatment regime.

·Maintain the confidentiality of all resident care information including protected health information. Report known or suspected incidents of unauthorized disclosure of such information.

·Review complaints and grievances made by the resident and/or representative, initiate investigation and report to the Director indicating what action(s) were taken to resolve the complaint or grievance. Follow facility’s established procedures.
