Priority Waste maintains a diversified platform providing service to both municipal solid-waste, construction and demolition customers. Job Purpose

In your role as Safety, Training & Compliance Officer, you will work towards bettering our workplace safety policies and procedures while maintaining safe working practices.

Duties may include, but not be limited to:

• Assists in payroll functions on a weekly basis.
• Collects and reviews various documents to ensure accuracy and completion. Follows up to obtain any missing documentation.
• Maintains employee information within HRIS system and electronic employee files.
• Processes employee changes including rate, position, department, and location changes.
• Answers employee inquiries on various human resources topics; including payroll, policies, benefits, and the HRIS system.
• Involvement in employee relations functions.
• DOT compliance including scheduling drug and alcohol tests, ensuring compliance with random testing, tracking licenses and medical cards, and running reports for audits.
• Weekly ad hoc reporting for management.
• Handles recruiting functions for a range of positions.
• Involvement in selection process including completing phone screens, arranging interviews, and running pre-employment checks.
• Performs employee onboarding and offboarding processes.
• Assists with Unemployment Insurance Agency Claims.
• Works closely with Benefits Administrator on employee benefit matters. Assist in auditing and coding.
• Assists with FMLA, Workers Compensation, unemployment, and safety functions.
• Involvement in creating and implementing new policies and procedures.
• Works on special projects.
• Continuously analyzes work processes and makes suggestions for improvement.
• Other duties as assigned.

The successful candidate profile includes:

• Degree in Human Resources or related field
• 1-3 years of experience in a Human Resources Generalist role or related position
• HRIS system experience preferred
• Ability to quickly adapt to changes
• Strong organizational and prioritization skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Knowledge of MS Office Suite including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
• Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment

Location & Travel

The HR Generalist’s home base will be at the company’s headquarters in Clinton Township, MI and will require minimal travel.
