Operations Manager at Outdoor Adventure and Mythology Summer Day Camp
Title: Brooklyn Operations Manager
Reports to: Regional Logistics Manager
Employment Status: Exempt/Seasonal
Company Summary:
Plato Learning operates outdoor mythology-based day camps for kids ages 7-15. We create a world where
monsters, myth, and magic transport kids out of the mortal realm into one where they are empowered to
develop new skills, take risks, solve problems, and ultimately become Heroes. With sixteen locations spanning
from NYC to California, Plato Learning uses actors, live-action role-play, and physically and mentally engaging
activities to bring myths to life.
Are you ready to join the team and accept our call to adventure?
Job Summary:
We are hiring an organized and energetic leader to serve as the Operations Manager at our Brooklyn camp
location in Prospect Park. The Operations Manager integrates the logistical needs of our three Brooklyn camp
programs (Camp Half-Blood, Camp Jupiter, and Daring Girls), and acts as the overarching Health Supervisor,
supporting the three program’s individual Health Centers.
Job Responsibilities
Lead Operations. Acts as the lead for Operations across all 3 camp programs at Brooklyn, who each have an
individual Operations Coordinator that reports to their respective Camp Director. As the lead of the three camp
programs, make decisions that aect all 3 camps, such as when to transition to indoor locations during
inclement weather, or what to do in a site-wide emergency.
Resource for Parents. Our three camp programs serve approx. 400 campers each week and their parents. Act as
a resource for parents with camper material distribution, such as purchases or replacements for lost/broken
materials (camp t-shirts and foam swords).
Coordinating with Headquarters. Serve as the point of contact and coordination with our team of Logistics
Assistants, who drive a van to/from Prospect Park with camp materials for all 3 programs. These Assistants
report to the Regional Logistics Manager.
Supply Management. Ensure the Brooklyn site van stays clean and well-organized. Supervise the loading and
unloading of materials, and the transportation strategy to each location. While the individual Operations
Coordinators are responsible for their program, the Operations Manager keeps in touch with Headquarters
about any missing materials that prove urgent.
Build Partnerships. Working with outside vendors is part of what makes camp run like a well-oiled adventure,
whether they be Prospect Park ocials, indoor locations, or park-goers wandering by camp. Keep
communications running smoothly between outside vendors and the three camp programs.
Steel your Resolve. Our Camp is an energetic all-outdoor environment that requires sta and campers alike to
embrace exciting new challenges. As Leadership Sta are the rst people our team look to in times of challenge
and uncertainty, we are looking for courageous individuals excited by the discomfort in adventure, and who do
not shy away from responsibility, even during a heat wave or when it's raining heavily.
The Ultimate Team Player. If any of the Camp Leadership Positions are absent across all three camp
programs, the Operations Manager steps in to help support that program as needed. On occasion, the
Operations Manager may drive the van to/from camp if the Logistics Assistants are absent, and/or to
Headquarters if there is a camp materials emergency.
1-2 training days TBD that week (not the 4th)
What skills are we looking for?
Plato Learning (at minimum). We nd our Operations Managers from a variety of places (school/arts
administration, after school operations, stage/production management, project management,
service-oriented entrepreneurs and college and grad school programs- to name a few).
Plato Learning would like to put forth this statistic. While men apply to jobs when they meet an average of 60% of
the requirements, women and other underrepresented people often only apply when they match all criteria. Even if
you don't meet every checkbox in the job description, but you think you have what it takes, we encourage you to apply.
Benets and Compensation:

COVID-19 Notice: Our COVID-19 Policies and Procedures will be updated periodically to reect all
mandated state and federal health & safety regulations. All camps operated successfully in 2020, 2021, 2022 and
