Piedmont Virginia Community College is Hiring a Program Manager Near Charlottesville, VA

Piedmont Virginia Community College (PVCC) is a nonresidential two-year institution of higher education that serves Central Virginia – principally residents of the City of Charlottesville and the counties of Albemarle, Buckingham, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa and Nelson. Our scenic campus is located in Albemarle County, Virginia. We are one of 23 community colleges in Virginia that comprise the Virginia Community College System (VCCS).

The Workforce Services division at Piedmont Virginia Community College is seeking a highly motivated and entrepreneurial team member to provide leadership primarily for skilled trades, welding and related courses and programs which may include a combination of workforce credential programs, employer training, online courses and/or lifelong learning. This position works collaboratively with the division leadership and operations teams, as well as college and community partners, to develop and deliver high-quality programs offered within Workforce Services.

Hours: Full Time
This is an exempt position with the expectation of a flexible work schedule to meet program and division needs. Work is primarily during weekdays; position requires some evening and weekend hours, and ability to resolve issues as needed. This is not a remote position.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of assigned programs to include curriculum, staffing, scheduling, compliance, and quality assurance.
  • Monitor regional, state, and national trends in workforce education and assigned program areas. Lead updates of existing programs and development of dynamic partnerships and new programs to meet regional needs.
  • Seek out opportunities for program development, partnerships, and revenue sources.
  • Ensure positive student experiences, high-quality instruction, and strong student and employer satisfaction for assigned programs.
  • Recruit, train, mentor and evaluate a strong adjunct faculty team.
  • Lead faculty in developing, implementing, and evaluating curriculum. Ensure alignment of curriculum with credentialing agencies and employer needs. Mentor faculty in employing strategies to engage students and improve preparedness & performance.
  • Develop course schedule collaboratively with WFS leadership team. Work with employers to align course frequency and content with regional demands.
  • Collaboratively address student issues, promote student access, completion, credentialing, and employment.
  • Monitor enrollment, completion, credentialing, and job placement of students. Maintain accurate and timely program, student, enrollment, financial, and credential records.
  • Ensure compliance with accreditation, college, division, and state policies/procedures.
  • Develop and reconcile program budgets. Meet and exceed increasing revenue goals.
  • Ensure equipment, texts, and supplies are provided in a timely manner for programs.
  • Participate in outreach and recruitment efforts for students and instructors.
  • Maintain communication with similar programs across the college, region, and state.
  • Partner with college team members to share facilities and faculty.
  • Serve on division, college, community, and statewide committees as needed.

Required qualifications:

  • Experience developing, managing, and evaluating programs.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups and establish ongoing relationships.

  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Effective problem-solving skills.

  • Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Additional considerations:

  • Certification(s) or licensure as a skilled trades professional. Examples may include National Center for Construction Education & Research (NCCER), Journeyman/Master trades person or other related credentials.
  • Experience developing, managing, and evaluating skilled trades education programs.
  • Experience with community college, continuing education, or workforce services programs.
  • Experience evaluating and aligning curricula to external standards.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple program types and instructional team members to meet dynamic programming demands.
  • Knowledge of VCCS academic and workforce programs.
  • Experience teaching and/or advising adult learners.
  • Experience supervising and mentoring instructors in a collaborative, team environment.
  • Experience engaging employers in Central Virginia.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $62,000.00 per year
