This position performs a full range of clerical and forensic assignments for maximum efficiency in the office at the discretion of the Administrator in collaboration with Forensic and Investigation departments as administrative support.
- Acts as liaison between Administrator, Forensic Technicians, and Investigations for day-to-day operations of case load and administrative needs.
- Assists the records clerk with clerical duties such as faxing, filing, mailing, emailing, etc.
- Communicates and coordinates with the Forensic Pathologists, coworkers, and personnel from law enforcement, hospital, medical, civil, mortuary, insurance and other fields, as necessary at discretion of Administrator.
- Processes incoming supplies, equipment, and oversees all inventory, ordering of supplies, and clerical items needed for office based on department needs with Supervisor approval.
- Accepts subpoenas and maintains record archives, subpoenas, scheduling, and court calendars for pathologists.
- Assist with forensic technician training of database system, forensic processing, x-ray equipment, and body transport releases and necessary paperwork in coordination with Chief Forensic Technician and Decedent Affairs Liaison.
- Help Forensic processing/autopsy services, in emergent situations as needed.
- Point of contact for law firm specimen requests, specimen processing, release of specimens, and organization of forensic specimens for record archives, in coordination with Chief Forensic Technician and Records clerk.
- High School Diploma required.
- Specialized training preferre
- Two years office experience with medical terminology preferred.
- Two-Three Years experience in medical examiner/coroner's office, clerical position, or administrative services.
- Two-Three Years forensic processing, autopsy, mortuary science experience preferred.
