Palmer Legal Staffing is Hiring an Audio Visual Technician Near Washington, DC

A D.C. Government Agency is seeking an Audiovisual Technician to work in-office in the Capitol Hill area. This Audiovisual Technicians will work within the Engineering Operations Department, House Recording Studio, Office of the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), U.S. House of Representatives (House). The House Recording Studio provides broadcast coverage of the House, broadcast, and webcast Committee hearings, and provides video and audio services for Members. This position serves as the Audiovisual Support Technician. The planned period of performance is 12 months with two one-year options Start date for candidate(s) is anticipated to be May 15, 2024.

Status: Temporary Contract

What You'll Do:

  • Perform audio/video equipment setup and tear down for events in various multipurpose event rooms.
  • Provide technical support during events.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot audio, video, and lighting equipment.
  • Prepare and position audio, video and lighting equipment for broadcasts and recordings.
  • Connect, tune, and configure AV setups to ensure high-quality events.
  • Operate software to control AV technologies.
  • Prepare teleprompters with scripts.
  • Find effective means to store and transport AV equipment when needed.
  • Stays abreast of new technologies and hardware/software applications relating to Video-teleconferencing, webcasting, virtual platforms, and social media.
  • Maintains and seeks to enhance Customer Experience Standards. Ensures that core responsibilities are properly completed in a timely manner.
  • Stays apprised of day-to-day operations and keeps appropriate management informed of ongoing activities as well as areas of concern.
  • Assists co-workers in utilizing internal practices and procedures to ensure performance is timely, responsive, and consistent with customer needs.
  • Monitors and tracks workflow within area of responsibility. Coordinates with other individuals/teams across the organization in support of task completion.
  • Performs data entry, manipulates, and/or retrieves information and data from automated systems for assigned areas.
  • Carries out and follows up on the completion of special projects and initiatives as assigned.
  • Assists with planning and scheduling activities; organizes tasks in sequential and/or logical order and resolves conflicts as needed.
  • Assists with equipment installations; setup, storage, and specific manufacturer recommended modifications of equipment.
  • Performs video teleconferencing setup and operation.
  • Performs other official duties and special projects as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • 3 years of professional audiovisual experience
  • Technical event experience in video-teleconferencing, webcasting, virtual platforms, and video production required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to the position or an equivalent level of professional work experience preferred.
  • Technical understanding of AV and IT systems.
  • Up-to-date awareness of AV technologies and their features
  • Expertise in video conferencing
  • Knowledge of the architectural, cabling, and control system requirements of AV technologies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office.
  • Interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Strong technical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Knowledge of video teleconferencing systems, audio/video web streaming, and the software and equipment needed to stream audio/video over the Web.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgement and discretion.
  • Knowledge of and ability to use various automated office systems and software programs.
