Orlando Regional REALTOR® Association is Hiring a Director of Professional Development Near Orlando, FL

POSITION TITLE: Director of Professional Development
REPORTS TO: Vice President of Membership
CLASSIFICATION: Exempt
OVERALL FUNCTION: Plans, organizes and directs the Association's member professional development programs and provides staffing for the Professional Development Committee. Plans, arranges, markets and stages seminars, workshops, and other educational opportunities, including instructor development. Works with state, national and other local REALTOR® organizations to provide a wide range of educational opportunities and courses leading to professional designations and certifications.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Serves as a staff liaison for assigned committees, PAG's, and Task Forces assigned to the department.
  • Plans, organizes, markets and directs the Association's educational offerings in
  • coordination with the Professional Development Committee and other committees.
  • Negotiating contracts, with the oversight of the Vice President of Member Services, with outside instructors and speakers for professional designation and certification courses and other educational offerings and continually monitors their effectiveness.
  • Negotiating contracts, with the oversight of the Vice President of Member Services, with the Florida REALTORS® and the National Association's Institutes, Societies and Councils for designation and certification courses and other professional development opportunities
  • Planning and promoting joint events that may include the Member Benefit Ask the Expert Series, the Annual Law Symposium and Joint ORRA/Chamber of Commerce events as planned.
  • Creating the marketing programs for these educational seminars and events, including flyers, signs and promotional materials, etc. and compiling, publishing and distributing an annual education catalog/calendar in January.
  • Coordinating speakers and supplies for the monthly New Member Orientation programs.
  • Staging local instructor development workshops to ensure the highest quality instruction.
  • Orchestrates the selection and scheduling of educational programs for Continuing Education credits and oversees the fulfillment of information and materials in a prompt and timely fashion for the following courses and meetings:
  • New Member Orientation
  • Graduate Realtor Institute (GRI)
  • Designation and Certification Courses
  • Legal Symposium, Ask the Expert Series
  • Renewal Rescue
  • Core Law
  • Code of Ethics
  • Specialty CE Courses
  • And other programs based on market demands and trends
  • Reviews and assure submission of required documentation for CE credit courses including License Agreements, Class Notifications, Sponsorship Agreements, CE credit reporting through the DBPR or proper channel, etc.
  • Oversees the issuance of Speaker/Instructor Agreements in accordance with the guidelines and policies of the department.
  • Oversees the renewal of courses in accordance with NAR, FR and DBPR guidelines and requirements.
  • Professionally, accurately, and promptly assist members with their education-related questions.
  • Creates and assures the maintenance of the annual Education calendar in hard copy and on the website.
  • Coordinates meeting times, materials, agendas and notices in conjunction with the Professional Development Coordinators.
  • Oversees team scheduling and payroll records.
  • Provides professional staff support for the Association's Professional Development Committee as well as other committees as assigned.
  • Providing executive staff support for the regular Committee meetings and for Committee leadership
  • Planning, organizing, marketing and staging the educational programs of the committees.
  • Overseeing the execution of the events and programs of the committees through the utilization of the Professional Development staff.
  • Keeps abreast of the state industry's emerging trends and legal developments so the Association will provide up-to-date programs. Attends Florida and National Association education-related workshops, committee meetings, conferences, seminars and conventions as directed.
  • Coordinates the Association’s local Fair Housing initiatives in collaboration with the Director of Governmental Affairs and Market Diversity Committee.
  • Serves as point of contact for state and county educational institutions in assessing the awarding of Association scholarships and/or grants.
  • Monitors departmental budget in collaboration with Vice President of Member Services.
  • Supervises, directs, and evaluates departmental employees and directly supervises the Professional Development Coordinators and Assistants and any part-time or temporary personnel assigned to the department, as necessary.
  • Assists with additional projects and committees as needed.
  • Assists other departments as assigned and performs such other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Member Services.
REQUIREMENTS/JOB SKILLS: College degree or equivalent management level trade association or business experience. Possess good marketing, communication, planning, budgeting, organizational, managerial, and supervisory skills. Computer/word processing and some database management experience a necessity. Able to properly motivate, guide and assist volunteer leaders, committees and staff and be able to deal effectively and diplomatically with them. Must possess mature judgment, confidentiality and a high degree of personal organization and initiative. Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
