Orion and TAS Companies is Hiring a Sr. Financial Analyst Near Houston, TX

POSITION SUMMARY

The Sr. Financial Analyst serves as a key partner to the business to analyze data that influences strategic decision making and company performance. This position is heavily involved in business partnering with Operations and corporate finance for required board/c suite materials.

The incumbent must support the guiding beliefs and core values of Orion, which are centered on Quality, Safety and Production (each of equal weight and importance) but, most importantly, with each built upon the all-important foundation of Integrity.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for monthly forecast updates for selected business units
  • Participates in annual and 5-year business planning process
  • Analyzes current and past financial and non-financial trends in key performance indicators.
  • Monitors and tracks financial progress across selected business units.
  • Assists with special projects/project management/ad hoc analysis as needed.
    Works closely with key stakeholders in our business units on priority tactical initiatives to improve business unit performance.
  • Develops a deep understanding of how our business units operate, the markets they play in, their strategic priorities and potential opportunities.
  • Develops and maintains key performance indicators across all segments.
  • Improves performance by evaluating processes to drive efficiencies and understand ROI in new strategic initiatives.
  • Plans integration processes across the organization in cooperation with senior leadership.
  • Assists in production of all Board presentations and other board related materials.
  • Analyzes and develops points of view on trends and market forecasts.
  • Responsible for monthly/quarterly updates and process improvement initiatives
  • Strong understanding of pulling data from databases and data management via Excel (Power Query a plus)

  • Performs other related administrative and technical duties as may be assigned or requested by immediate supervision (such as certification training, safety training, procedure review, etc.).
  • All employees, current and former, must maintain confidentiality by not disclosing to others any confidential, proprietary or trade secret information belonging to the Company.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Must possess:

  • Minimum 4 years of business-related experience with the ability to be detail oriented and process driven.
  • Preferred two years of experience in FP&A.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Analytics, or Accounting is required.
  • Very strong PC skills and experience in Windows packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, PowerBI, Outlook) and financial systems.
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to move seamlessly from project to project as requirements dictate are important traits and skills.

The ideal candidate will possess the following skill set: understanding of advanced financial analysis techniques using spreadsheet software; ability to assist in the design of reports that present data in a concise manner for use by top management in decision making; strong analytical and interpersonal skill; ability to communicate with Sr. management (verbal, prose and PowerPoint) in a concise/executive summary fashion.

Some travel and overtime may be required.

Moreover, the incumbent must be well organized and be a self-starter with the ability to work with minimal supervision and to independently identify work to be done and must be flexible with the ability to adjust to sudden changes in work priorities. The incumbent must also have the ability to prioritize work generally and in order to accommodate those changes. The incumbent must have a strong aptitude for accuracy and detail which maintaining a strong sense of personal motivation as well as responsibility.

Discretion and trustworthiness, and the ability to keep all Company information and materials strictly confidential (both internally and externally) are essential elements of this position.

The Company expects and requires incumbent and each of its other employees to observe and fulfill the above and all other safety responsibilities and actively work toward maintaining a safe workplace. Failure to do so can result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

The incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable workplace accommodation.

The individual must also be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment if required to work or visit the jobsite. This may include hard hat, safety glasses, respirators, ear plugs, steel-toed shoes, personal flotation devices, or other equipment as required by the work performed and location the work is being done.

The incumbent must possess the ability to remain calm during emergencies and respond appropriately as dictated by the circumstance of the incident and as directed by the Safety Representative or other management personnel. Must be capable of evacuating the work area in a timely manner should an emergency situation arise.
