Reporting to Director, Retail Finance, the Sr. Financial Analyst will work closely with the Accounting, Finance, Operations, and Sales teams within Parkland USA’s Retail segment, as a key business partner; maintain a high level of curiosity about the Retail business and actively collaborate with peers and business leaders to understand and model underlying drivers of Retail’s financial performance; perform research work and prepare financial analysis necessary to make essential decisions, while providing reliable reporting, financial planning, and analysis to meet Retail performance goals and objectives. The Sr. Financial Analyst will assist routine deliverables as well as be involved with continuous improvement projects as well as ad-hoc finance projects throughout the year.

Key Responsibilities:

Forecasting, Modeling, Strategic Planning and Budgeting

• Support in building a robust corporate model that forecasts income statements, cash flows and balance sheet of USA Retail and ROCs (Regional Operating Centers) for multiple years using Excel, or OneStream (or other reporting tools).
• Assist with managing monthly rolling forecast, including EBITDA and capex.
• Support the annual budgeting process and deliver the annual budget. 

Reporting and Analysis

• Develop meaningful reports that presents complex financial analysis in a concise and user-friendly way that would be of high value to operations and the business.
• Assist with monthly, quarterly and annual actual vs. budget and KPI and performance analysis for the USA Retail segment and ROCs.
• Prepare dashboards, actual vs. budget, KPI and other analysis and ensure they are user-friendly and meaningful to the business.

Process Improvements

• Understand the current and future state of USA’s accounting and operational systems and look for process improvements for automation to reduce/eliminate manual processes and increase efficiency and effectiveness in providing information.
• Work with operational and financial teams to analyze the business and improve processes and operations.

Financial Planning

• Perform discounted cash flow analyses, capital investment/divestment, and portfolio analyses.

Special ad hoc projects

• Develops ad hoc reports/analysis as required.

Qualifications

• Advanced Excel and PowerPoint.
• University degree in Finance or Accounting.
• Accounting/Finance Designation (CPA, CFA or equivalent) is an asset.
• 5 years of experience in finance, accounting, or related areas.
• Strong numeric skills, including the ability to analyze and critique complex financial models.
• Experience performing investment and discounted cash flow analyses.
• Ability to explain complex financial data so it's understandable and actionable by field level operations and sales teams.
• Ability to work in an ever-changing environment and deal with time sensitive issues.
• Curious mindset with strong critical and analytical skills to validate and challenge information provided by various sources.
• Ability to keep multiple projects with varying timeliness moving ahead contemporaneously.
• Must be a team player with the ability to work independently and be accountable for results.
• Retail / c-store industry experience is a plus.
• Knowledge of VIVID, OneStream, Power BI, Tableau, PDI, SAP and Think-Cell is an asset.
