Front of House Manager - Fast Casual Mexican Breakfast Restaurant

We are a new and vibrant restaurant concept opening in May 2024. We’re a fast-casual Mexican Breakfast restaurant located in Manhattan. Our team is passionate about providing an exceptional dining experience to our guests, and we are looking for a skilled and motivated FOH Manager to join our dynamic team.

Position Overview:

As the FOH Manager, you will play a pivotal role by overseeing all aspects of the restaurant’s FOH operations and thus ensuring a seamless and memorable dining experience for our guests. This position requires strong leadership skills, managing staff, controlling costs, implementing policies, a passion for hospitality, and the ability to maintain a positive and efficient front-of-house operation.

The FOH Manager will report directly to the CEO

Key Responsibilities:

Guest Experience:

  • FOH Manager will Ensure an outstanding and welcoming experience for all guests.
  • Respond promptly to guest inquiries, concerns, and feedback, resolving issues with a focus on guest satisfaction.

Team Leadership:

  • Recruit, train, and supervise front-of-house staff, including cashiers, baristas and bartenders.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, promoting teamwork and a customer-centric mindset.

Operational Leadership:

  • FOH Manager will Oversee day-to-day operations of the restaurant, including opening and closing procedures
  • Develop and implement operational policies and procedures to ensure smooth functioning
  • Creating standard operating procedures for all aspects of the FOH

Service Excellence:

  • Implement and maintain high standards of service, ensuring consistency in quality and efficiency.
  • Address customer concerns and feedback promptly and professionally
  • Conduct regular staff training on service protocols, menu knowledge, and upselling techniques.

Scheduling and Staffing:

  • FOH Manager will Create training manuals for all positions of the FOH
  • Recruit, train, and supervise staff members
  • Create and manage front-of-house staff schedules, considering peak dining hours and special events.
  • Set performance expectations and provide regular feedback
  • Provide ongoing training for staff to enhance skills and knowledge
  • Foster a positive and inclusive work environment
  • Identify and develop high-potential employees for career advancement.
  • FOH Manager will Monitor staffing levels to optimize guest service and operational efficiency.

Financial Management:

  • Develop and manage budgets, including revenue and expense forecasting
  • Monitor financial performance and implement cost control measures
  • Ensure compliance with budgetary guidelines
  • Monitor sales performance and implement strategies to achieve revenue targets.

Marketing and Promotions:

  • FOH Manager will play a pivotal PR role as the face of the operation and the direct representative of Ownership.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Catering and Events to develop and execute marketing strategies to attract customers
  • Plan and implement promotional events and activities to boost sales
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to create effective advertising campaigns

Inventory and Supplies:

  • FOH Manager will Oversee the management of front-of-house inventory, including dining utensils, glassware, and condiments.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to ensure an adequate supply of front-of-house essentials.

POS Operations:

  • FOH Manager will Monitor and manage the Point-of-Sale (POS) system, troubleshooting any technical issues.
  • Provide training to staff on POS operations, ensuring accurate order processing and payment handling.

Upkeep of Dining Area:

  • Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the dining area, including tables, chairs, and decorative elements.
  • Collaborate with the cleaning staff to maintain high hygiene standards.
  • Oversee general Repair & Maintenance agreements and schedules

Collaboration with Kitchen:

  • Foster effective communication and collaboration between front-of-house and kitchen staff.
  • Coordinate with the kitchen team to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment.

Quality assurance:

  • FOH Manager will Ensure that food & beverages quality and presentation meet established standards.
  • Conduct regular inspections to maintain cleanliness and adherence to health and safety regulations
  • Implement quality control measures of food, beverages, and service.

HR Responsibilities

  • Facilitate new hire orientation and ensure a smooth onboarding process for all new team members.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to employees and managers, providing guidance and support on HR-related issues.
  • Proactively address employee concerns and grievances, promoting a positive work environment and resolving conflicts as needed.
  • Conduct regular check-ins with team members to assess job satisfaction and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Stay up-to-date on relevant labor laws and regulations, ensuring compliance with all legal requirements.
  • Develop and enforce company policies and procedures, promoting a culture of fairness, respect, and accountability.
  • Conduct regular audits and assessments to ensure adherence to HR policies and standards.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a FOH Manager or in a similar leadership role in the restaurant industry.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of restaurant operations, including food preparation, service, and financial management.
  • Knowledge of hospitality industry trends and a passion for delivering exceptional guest experiences.
  • Excellent communication and customer service abilities
  • Understanding of health and safety regulations
  • Familiarity with Toast POS systems and restaurant operations.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Knowledge of Mexican cuisine is highly encouraged.
  • Food Handlers Certificate
