Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and organized Medical Office Assistant to join our team. The Medical Office Assistant will be responsible for providing administrative support in the areas of medical billing, insurance authorization, surgical scheduling, ensuring smooth operations in a medical office setting. The ideal candidate will have experience in medical office management and possess knowledge of medical terminology.

Duties:

- Schedule appointments and manage the office calendar

- Answer phone calls, respond to inquiries, and direct calls to the appropriate staff members

- Maintain patient records and update electronic medical records systems (such as Athena Health, Practice Fussion or eClinicalWorks)

- Assist with billing and coding processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance

- Prepare examination rooms for patient visits, ensuring cleanliness and availability of necessary supplies

- Coordinate referrals to specialists and follow-up appointments as needed

- Assist healthcare professionals with various tasks, such as taking patient vitals or collecting specimens

- Manage inventory of office supplies and place orders when necessary

Experience:

- Previous experience working in a medical office or healthcare setting is preferred

- Familiarity with medical terminology and understanding of basic medical procedures

- Proficiency in using electronic medical records systems (such as AthenaHealth, Practice Fussion or eClinicalWorks)

- Knowledge of fiscal management principles related to medical office operations

- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
