Job Description

Seeking a Controller with strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills. Position will oversee the Accounting functions for a growing law firm with over 20 nationwide offices. They will be responsible for monthly preparation and analysis of financial statements. Looking for highly organized candidate with keen attention to detail, excellent communication and interpersonal skills and collaboration and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Preparing and consolidating financial statements
• Establishing and maintaining internal controls
• Managing all aspects of the general ledger
• Providing monthly, quarterly, and year-end analyses
• Analyze, interpret, and report on trends in the financial data
• Coordinating or assisting with the budget process
• Researching accounting issues for compliance with generally accepted accounting principles
• Analyzing and reporting cost variances
• Working with external auditors and tax accountants
• Ensure that any account variations are investigated timely and corrected
• Overseeing accounting teams such as AP, AR, Cash Applications, and staff accountants

Ideal Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• At least ten years of experience in accounting or finance, experience in public accounting, a plus
• Expert knowledge of accounting and financial principles, regulations, and best practices
• Excellent understanding of governmental guidelines, tax laws that affect the company
• Proficient with data analysis, forecasting, critical thinking and problem-solving
• Candidate must also have a strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and advanced Excel skills and Proficiency in accounting software programs
• Management experience strongly preferred
• Law Firm experience required
• Experience with the Juris legal billing and accounting program a plus, but not required.
• Applicants who also have a master’s degree in business administration (MBA) or an accreditation such as certified public accountant (CPA) or certified management accountant (CMA), a plus
