Nom Wah is Hiring a Kitchen Manager Near New York, NY

Situated in New York’s Nolita neighborhood (“North of Little Italy”), Nom Wah Nolita is a fast-casual restaurant. Opened in September 2016, this location features self-service ordering systems, traditional steamed dumplings, and a new take on Chinese food. Blending Chinese flavors and American ideas, dishes take a forward-thinking approach. Rotating dishes, collaborations and specials compose the menu.
The Kitchen Manager’s primary function is to manage kitchen operations and maintain Company standards. In addition to managing food quality through service, Kitchen Managers are responsible for overseeing staff and providing excellent customer service. Kitchen Managers collaborate with the management team to create, enforce and evolve general operational procedures at Nom Wah.
Summary of Responsibilities:
  • Training new employees and maintaining Company standards of service.
  • Create and manage store schedule
  • Supports and guides kitchen team supervisors in running an efficient and consistent service.
  • Managers must be trained and efficient on all kitchen stations and be ready to work any station through service as well as guide and support line cooks through their responsibilities
  • Ordering of food and other relevant inventory according to Company standards
  • Follow DOH food handling safety guidelines and procedures at all times
  • Responsible for maintaining FIFO system of all products
  • Maintains acceptable levels of communication with team members and direct supervisors.
  • Effectively problem solves in order to maintain operations and restaurant standards.
  • Manages cleanliness, organization, and presentability of the restaurant at all times including opening and closing accuracy.
  • Manages and maintains all company standards and expectations.
Qualifications:
  • Must have a NYC Food Handler’s License or willing to complete the certification in first 90 days of employment
  • 1 year(s) of experience managing staff to accomplish sales and guest service goals or 1 year managing in a similar role
  • Fast casual dining experience, preferably in a management or supervisory position
  • Excellent communication, leadership and team-building skills
  • Familiarity and/or ability to navigate POS systems, ordering and delivery applications and a general knowledge of technical platforms as related to the everyday operations of the restaurant
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule often including evenings, weekends and some holidays
