Job Overview:

Next Level Sports is seeking a Business Development Associate to support and bolster Next Level’s core program verticals, including flag football, basketball, volleyball, and camp programming. General roles and duties will be centered on, but not limited to, partner success and support, program expansion, market research, internal partner networking, customer feedback integration, and general program management. Our Business Development teammate is expected to be a ‘generalist’ while providing general Next Level Sports partner support and oversight within the Business Development team.

The ideal candidate is energetic, motivated, confident, and possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills. They exude professionalism and positivity, are highly organized, detail-oriented, efficient, and comfortable in a ‘start-up’ and ‘tech’ based environment. Proficient verbal, written, and computer skills are a must, as well as an inquisitive mind. This person will be responsible for executing the highest quality of operational support and development for our organization and our supported partners while working in a fast-paced environment. Success in this role requires organization, resourcefulness, excellent communication skills, total follow-through, and, most importantly, an understanding of what has made Next Level Sports successful for the past 10 years: a full commitment to servicing our customers and participants with an unwavering passion for engagement, competition, and personal development. This individual will work on the ‘front lines’ with our Program Partners. Comfort collaborating and talking with partners, their staff, and other cross-functional resources will be paramount and expected!

This is a full-time salary position with a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, vision, a 401k match, 8 paid company holidays, and a monthly allowance. We prefer to hire a local employee to join us in the San Mateo office a few days a week. However, we are also reviewing applications for remote employees.

What You’ll Do:

  • Interact and coordinate in a cross-functional manner with Business Development and Program Development teams to quantify, measure, and interpret variances between Next Level Sports programs,
  • Research current geographic territories for expansion efforts and/or program discipline additions, inclusive of exploring networks within the Next Level Sports partner database as well as outside of the network,
  • Assist in the identification and recognition of key target regions and assist in the cultivation of new relationships in need-to-be markets,
  • Manage and support site-specific programmatic updates on a seasonal basis in accordance with program operational requirements as defined by internal Business Development Managers/Directors,
  • Act as a liaison between internal cross-functional teams, including Marketing, Program Operations, Finance, Equipment, and otherwise, to assist the core Business Development team,
  • Advise, support, and coordinate with current Next Level Sports partners to ensure they are in line with operational milestones and deliverables,
  • Gather, synthesize, and report mid-season and post-season survey response data to provide site feedback to respective Business Development Managers/Directors, internal operational groups, and external Next Level Sports partners,
  • Oversee Next Level Free Clinic efforts on a sport-by-sport basis, monitoring registrations, preparation and organizational support for our partners and their events,
  • Other duties as assigned and determined by the VP of Business Development in coordination with various Next Level Sports program verticals and operational departments.

The Ideal Candidate Is/Has:

  • Team first attitude with a willingness to ‘get it done’,
  • Solutions-oriented,
  • Exudes a competitive spirit to ensure team success,
  • Organized and detail-oriented (perhaps to a fault),
  • Growth-oriented with a focus on ‘larger picture’,
  • An avid multitasker,
  • Energetic, motivated, and gritty,
  • Comfortable in conversation,
  • Maintains an ‘Athlete Mindset’ in the workplace.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent,
  • 1-2 years of relevant work experience,
  • Strong interpersonal communication and people skills,
  • Proactive work style and proven success in self-management,
  • A demonstrated passion for athletics and youth enrichment,
  • Proficient computer skills (including Google Suite),
  • Patience, stress tolerance, and the ability to think/react quickly,
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and own operational functions,
  • Experience in any team or individual sport is a plus,
  • Willingness to work on program activation days (Saturdays/Sundays),
  • Strong passion for sports is a must!
