NewYork-Presbyterian is Hiring a Vice President Security Near New York, NY

Position Summary

Provides strategic direction and oversight to the Security and Emergency Management Department for NewYork-Presbyterian enterprise including the Regional Hospitals, Ambulatory Care Network sites and the Medical Group locations. Develop and execute security strategies to safeguard NYP facilities, assets, and personnel from internal and external threats. Ensures effective leadership, management, direction and administration of operations for all related areas. Serves as primary liaison to associated City, State, and Federal law enforcement authorities.

Essential Job Duties

  • Oversees NYPH Enterprise Security technology operations to ensure effective CCTV surveillance of Hospital property and protection of patients, visitors and staff.
  • Oversee the performance and development of Training and Emergency Management to ensure a safe environment through a proactive and advanced security infrastructure utilizing integrated surveillance systems, key card access, and enterprise-wide information exchange.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to direct the development of an effective strategy to anticipate, assess and mitigate strategic and operational security-related threats/risks, manage crises and incidents, and safeguard the organization.
  • Conduct annual risk assessments and security audits to identify vulnerabilities and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations. Identify mitigation options to reduce or eliminate the risks and finally implement the appropriate strategies to reduce such risks.
  • Oversees daily operations of departments while functioning in compliance with critical operational, regulatory, safety and security guidelines. Creates new policies and procedures for departments as necessary due to organizational needs as well as governmental and or regulatory changes. Monitors employee and departmental adherence to goals, policies and procedures.
  • Focused on planning for accidents, natural disasters, and other emergency scenarios. Collaborates with organizational leaders to anticipate potential risks, assess probabilities and develop plans to respond effectively.
  • Manages goals and objectives for the department to ensure they are consistent with overall plans for the institution and that they promote cohesive, integrated, efficient function of the departments.
  • Prepares departmental operating budgets. Monitors expenditures to ensure departments’ operations are within budget. Ensures effectiveness of execution of internal controls to provide reasonable assurance that operations are effective and efficient. Proactively works with Finance to anticipate and resolve resource-related issues.
  • Oversees departmental-level strategic planning regarding training and technology focusing on standardization, active shooter training, secure egress access, campus monitoring, and communication.
  • Utilizes knowledge of policies, system processes, and outside regulatory agency requirements to provide expertise in developing innovative tools, projects and programs to assist in accomplishment of established goals
  • Oversees all performance improvement projects and activities. Implements and tracks outcomes of these initiatives.
  • Establishes, implements and maintains mechanisms to promote communication within the departments such as weekly department manager meetings.
  • Chairs or participates in hospital-wide committees. Attends and serves on professional and civic organizations as a Hospital representative, as appropriate.
  • Manages, recruits and mentors new departmental security leaders and managers. Provides leadership and on-the-job monitoring and training to existing staff. Evaluates employee performance and initiates personnel actions as appropriate and in accordance with NYP Policies and Procedures.
  • Performs all duties inherent to managerial role. Participates in hiring, training, evaluation and termination of assigned staff according to hospital policies and procedures.
  • Performs other special projects and duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Work Experience

  • 10 years’ experience within security or law enforcement (R)
  • Significant security leadership experience (R)
  • Knowledge of Joint Commission PPR for Environment of Care (R)
  • Knowledge of NYC-FDNY, NYS-DOH (R)
  • Knowledge of Regulatory agency standards (R)
