Position Purpose:
Provide support to Senior Accountant in all financial accounting functions for the Agency.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Works on the day-to day activities of the Finance Department, including General Ledger, Accounts Receivable, Bank Reconciliation, Accounts Payable and Payroll.
2. Verify and post transactions to journals, ledgers and other records.
3. Review invoices for accuracy and process payments.
4. Produce and develop internal financial reports and supporting schedules.
5. Perform monthly closing and reconciliation duties.
6. Provide data for preparation of the Agency-wide and departmental budgets.
7. Work in conjunction with TSH Contract Specialist to process foster parent payroll and cost reimbursables.
8. Prepares schedule for annual audit.
9. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Position Requirements:
1. Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting with a minimum of three years of experience in a similar financial environment.
2. Proficient in computerized accounting software and Microsoft Office suite of products (word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail, etc.)
3. Must be detail oriented and able to process data with the right balance between accuracy and efficiency.
4. Must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
5. Must be organized, flexible and able to multi-task effectively in a fast paced accounting environment.
6. Must possess strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
7. Must possess an attitude compatible with the goals and purposes of the National Center for Children and Families.
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is often required to sit and use their hands and fingers, to handle and feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms, stoop, kneel, or crouch. Vision abilities include close vision with a computer monitor. The noise level is usually quiet to moderate. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable people with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
