Munson is a multicultural arts center with three main divisions: Museum of Art, School of Art and Performing Arts. Together, the programs of the three divisions make Munson the chief provider of cultural resources in the region. The Museum of Art is renowned for its art collection and Phillip Johnson-designed building. The School of Art offers the nationally accredited Pratt Munson foundation program in its affiliation with Pratt Institute and a community arts education program offering art classes and workshops. The Performing Arts division offers a wide-ranging, year-round programming of artistically excellent and diverse performing arts and cinema presentations, as well as extensive educational activities.
Pratt Munson College of Art and Design is an NASAD accredited foundation college art program, created through an affiliation between Munson, Utica, NY, and Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, NY. Students do their first two foundation years of a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at here at our campus and then matriculate to the Brooklyn campus for completion. The campus houses approximately 170 students majoring in Fine Arts, Communications Design, Photography, and Art and Design Education.
Munson is located in the heart of New York State, foothills of the Adirondack Mountains and centrally located with easy travel to Cooperstown, Albany, Syracuse and a few hours from Boston, NYC, Lake Placid, and Montreal.

Munson, located in Utica, NY, is a nationally prominent fine arts center serving diverse audiences through a renowned Museum of Art, the Pratt Munson College of Art and Design, a live performing arts season, and year-round community arts classes. The Institute was founded in 1919 and annually hosts some 600 events where patrons enjoy exhibitions, performances, art classes, and family-oriented activities.
The Museum of Art is one of the nation’s most significant mid-sized art museums, with a top collection of American art. Munson offers more than 100 community art classes and workshops throughout the year, taught by working artists in studios shared by Pratt Munson College of Art and Design, a Munson program that offers students the option of fulfilling their first two years of a BFA in Utica before transitioning to the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn to complete their degree. Live events at Munson include a series of intimate concerts by national acts, a weekly film series, live streaming of the Metropolitan Opera, and the popular summer Arts Festival. Munson is an exceptional convergence of many areas of creative expression that is both a community asset in the Mohawk Valley and an art destination located in the heart of New York with easy travel to Syracuse, Albany, and just a few hours from New York City, Boston, and Montreal.

Position Overview
The Digital Marketing Manager is responsible for the integration of all aspects of social media and web content around institutional goals and brand using compelling messages and highly visual content designed to build Munson’s online presence.
Responsibilities
Create an exciting presence for Munson on multiple web and social media platforms.
Seek out both stories and visuals from around Munson that highlight the brand, personalities, activities and services of all aspects of Munson – the Museum and its exhibitions and programs; Community Arts Education; Performing Arts events; and collaborate where possible with Pratt Munson social media.
Continuously update and energize content and add exciting visual, audio and video content to social media platforms and email blasts.
Focus not just on the obvious news around exhibitions and major events, but also on the small or unusual stories and visuals that are ripe for social media.
Manage the Munson email calendar and collaborate with campus-wide content creators to develop strong, smart, and effective email campaigns
Contribute to maintaining Munson and Pratt Munson’s website by updating digital content
Work closely with outside vendors and Munson IT on web and social media projects.
Assure that excellent print messages and visual assets are tailored for web and social media.
Find ways to streamline costs where possible by moving certain publications online.
Meet regularly with the President, division directors, dean, faculty, curators, students, and alumni to find and promote stories that accentuate the Munson brand.
Build social media and web content around institutional and AE&E strategic goals.
Encourage and build greater social media participation
Monitor online activity across departments and geographical areas to ensure anyone using the Institute’s online tools is following established guidelines and best-practice rules.
Participate on inter-divisional committees
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or above in broadcast and/or social media or online marketing
3 to 5 years of experience in interactive media within a marketing department, preferably in an academic or arts-oriented setting
Strong writing and design skills for electronic mediums;
A keen eye for art and design, especially in online arenas;
Photography and video skills, especially for web and social media;
HTML experience is preferred
Interviewing and reporting ability;
A track record of creating exciting organizational personas on Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Snapchat, You Tube, Pinterest, and other developing social media platforms
Required online and software knowledge: Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Snapchat, Pinterest, YouTube, Sprout Social and other evolving social media; Indesign, Adobe, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat Pertinent photo and video editing applications
Effective organizational and time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks, work independently, and follow through on all assignments with minimal direction;
Excellent communication skills and polished and professional interpersonal skills to interact with Munson staff and faculty, students, members, patrons and visitors;
Critical thinking, consensus building, and problem-solving skills;
Ability to gather information, sort, draft, and provide analysis for budgetary and purchasing projects; and
Ability to read budget reports and accurately prepare fiscal documents and forms.
Compensation and Benefits
Salary Range $58,500 - 63,500
