Montgomery County Government is Hiring an Assistant Attorney III, Grade N32 Near Rockville, MD

The Office of the County Attorney Division of Labor Relations & Public Safety seeks an attorney to advise and represent Montgomery County in personnel matters.

The successful candidate will serve as general counsel to the Office of Emergency Management and Homeland Security (“OEMHS”). OEMHS is responsible for the coordination of planning and response and recovery efforts throughout Montgomery County.

Attorneys in the Division of Labor Relations & Public Safety also represent and advise Montgomery County in all types of legal proceedings, including:

  • disciplinary matters
  • contract grievances
  • administrative appeals
  • judicial proceedings
  • equal employment complaints
  • code enforcement
  • extreme risk protective orders
  • appeals of dangerous and potentially dangerous animal declarations

The position may/will be filled at the Assistant County Attorney II, Grade N27 (salary: $82,135 - $132,387) or Assistant County Attorney III, Grade N32 (salary: $100,978 - $163,566) level.

This position requires the ability to attend meetings or perform work at locations outside the office.

Minimum Qualifications


At the Assistant County Attorney III
:

Education: Graduation from an accredited university school of law.

Experience: Thorough (four (4) years) experience as an attorney, including some specialized (one (1) year) experience involving either local government law or the area of specialization to which position is assigned.

Equivalency: None.

LICENSE: Membership of the Maryland State Bar. Note: There will be no substitutions for this section.

At the Assistant County Attorney II:

Education: Graduation from an accredited university school of law.

Experience: Two (2) years of professional experience as an attorney, including trial experience.

Equivalency: None.

LICENSE: Membership of the Maryland State Bar. Note: There will be no substitutions for this section.

Preferred Criteria

There are no preferred criteria for this position. All minimally qualified candidates will be placed on the eligible list. If selected for consideration for this position, you will be required to provide a writing sample.
