SUMMARY:
The Email Marketing Manager plays a key role in improving the MTA customer experience. They are responsible for developing the MTA’s email marketing program, which includes newsletters, customer service alerts, surveys, and transactional emails. The Email Marketing Manager will use their knowledge of industry best practices and strategies (such as list segmentation and automation) to provide customers with targeted, accurate, and helpful information.
A successful occupant will establish the MTA as an email marketing powerhouse among global transit agencies.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Builds, develops, and maintains the MTA’s customer email program.
- Owns and socializes email content strategy, and updates in accordance with industry best practices.
- Produce and execute email campaigns, including building templates, copywriting, asset coordination, QA, A/B testing, and scheduling.
- Maintains email editorial calendar; liaises with web and social teams to ensure coordination around major content initiatives.
- Support various strategic initiatives via manual and triggered campaigns across the customer lifecycle including prospecting, win-back, nurturing, loyalty, retention, surveys, and transactional emails.
- Reports metrics and campaign performance regularly to key stakeholders and extracts insights from email analytics.
- Ensures integrity of customer data and subscription preferences are honored.
- Onboard stakeholders into the MTA’s Salesforce Marketing Cloud instance and lead trainings in the system for new employees.
- Work with IT or vendor technical support to troubleshoot issues and identify/prioritize improvements across the email marketing platform.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proficiency in email customer relation management programs (Salesforce, MailChimp, Constant Contact, etc.). Salesforce Marketing Cloud experience is preferred.
- Strong familiarity with content management systems, such as WordPress or Drupal.
- Strong knowledge of industry best practices, such as A/B testing messages and designs; identifying KPIs and reporting campaign performance; and monitoring spam scores.
- Experience with GDPR, CAN-SPAM, and other email privacy issues.
- Strong writing skills; provide writing samples upon request.
- Ability to balance competing priorities efficiently in a high-pressure environment with little oversight.
- Ability to analyze data and analytics to help inform strategic initiatives and decision-making.
- Flexible worker who collaborates well with peers and fosters a positive workplace.
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, digital marketing, journalism, or a related field.
- 3-5 years’ experience working in digital content, communications, marketing, or a related field; at least 2 years’ experience in an email-focused position.
