You can make a tangible impact on the lives of your favorite music creators as our self-driven, detail-oriented, customer-obsessed Email Marketing Associate. You will support a best-in-class communications experience for our artist prospect and client audiences. This role is responsible for implementing end-to-end email marketing strategy and driving awareness of Songtrust creator services, acquisition of independent artists in various stages of their career, and journey, and engaging with existing clients to further grow their careers.

As our Email Marketing Associate, you will meticulously execute email communication strategies and design, implement, and launch email campaigns. You will be a valued contributor, driving successful campaigns and able to multitask, managing multiple initiatives at once, while collaborating effectively with our marketing, creative, client services, and sales teams. You will take extra care to understand our customer's pain points and challenges and deliver compelling messaging and useful content that will drive measurable results in user acquisition and retention.

Our preferred candidate will be based on the East Coast within a commutable distance to New York City, but we're also open to remote candidates residing in the following states: CA, CO, FL, IL, KY, MD, MA, MT, NV, NJ, NY, NC, OK, PA, TN, TX, WA, WI.

What you'll do:

  • Execution of email marketing and communication strategies for Songtrust as designed by the Head of Marketing Engagement (including but not limited to email, SMS, chatbot, etc.) to achieve outlined OKRs
  • Perform day-to-day email marketing and communications related activities including, but not limited to, email campaign set-up, scheduling, testing, and deployment of content-driven campaigns
  • Launch planned and ad-hoc email campaigns for lifecycle marketing programs in collaboration with cross-functional teams and actively communicate with stakeholders to diligently produce error-free work and meet project due dates with minimal oversight
  • Manage lead forms, lists, audience segments, and subscriptions
  • Draft creative briefs, write copy decks, and edit graphic templates for email campaigns and any other requested marketing communications as needed
  • Ensure that all communications are subjected to thorough QA and proofreading for approval before launch
  • Collaborate and multitask for multiple projects, and manage time and efforts appropriately to meet due dates and expectations
  • Track and document project progress daily and weekly for managerial reviews and retrospectives
  • Guide the development of email templates in coordination with design, copywriting, legal, support, and product teams
  • Be an active contributor, introducing new ideas and recommendations for assigned projects to help achieve best-in-class email programs
  • Stay tuned to Songtrust's content across channels to contribute new ideas and repurpose content for use in email campaigns
  • Develop a firm understanding of Songtrust's brand, tone, buyer personas, ideal client profile, and the "voice of the customer" to address key needs and pain points for creators and music businesses
  • Regularly audit campaigns and implement A/B and multivariate testing to optimize and improve email performance
  • Troubleshoot technical issues surrounding any campaign elements as needed
  • Create custom reports and communicate campaign results to stakeholders on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis
  • Maintain the contact database, ensuring data hygiene, deduplication, and other related tasks
  • Adhere to best email practices for sending and deliverability
  • Regularly update internal documentation and relevant playbooks
  • Be a coachable team player and contributor with a positive "can-do" attitude

You are / have:

  • Required:
    • Bachelor's degree (preferably in Marketing, Business, or Communications) or equivalent certification or education
    • 2 years of Digital Marketing and E-Commerce experience (D2C brand experience preferred)
    • 2 years of hands-on CRM and ESP platform experience (Hubspot preferred or similar, i.e. SFMC, Marketo, Pardot, Eloqua, etc.)
    • 2 years of experience in executing successful email programs (e.g. onboarding, lead nurture, etc)
    • 2 years of experience creating marketing automation, workflows, and A/B tests
    • 2 years of marketing copywriting experience
    • 1 years of experience with graphic design software (e.g. Canva)
    • 1 years of experience with project management software (e.g. Trello, Asana, etc.)
    • Basic HTML/CSS and graphic design skills
    • A firm understanding of email and landing page best practices and success metrics
    • A firm understanding of lifecycle marketing, audience segmentation, marketing funnels, and buyer journeys
    • Experience with building marketing reports and effectively communicating their meaning to team members
    • Excellent written and verbal communication, prioritization, and time management skills
    • Firm knowledge of GDPR, Can-Spam, and other data privacy standards
    • Availability to work in Eastern Standard/Daylight Time
  • Preferred:
    • Eager to learn and implement new skills from an experienced leader that will propel you in your career
    • Experience operating within a Scrum project management framework
    • Previous experience in music industry marketing to creators and emerging artists
    • Candidates who live on the East Coast and can participate in occasional company events, marketing events, and team-building events in/near NYC

Downtown provides base salary ranges for all positions located in the United States at the time of posting. The hiring range for this position is $45,000-$55,000 annually. As a candidate for this position, your salary and related elements of compensation will be contingent upon various factors including, but not limited to, work experience, geographic location and relevant skills. Downtown is committed to providing a comprehensive market-competitive total rewards program for its employees which includes medical, dental, and vision, life insurance, 401(k) match and generous paid time off. This range does not include any other variable compensation components.
