The Overhead Crane Service Technician Apprentice is a front-line employee with direct customer contact and is a valued, essential part of the company’s success; in addition to technical skills, people skills are vital for effective customer relationship management and decision-making.
- Assist Overhead Crane Field Service Technician in troubleshooting and repairing customer cranes, crane
systems and other lifting components as directed - Assist Overhead Crane Field Service Technician with Installing various types of cranes, hoists, components and
parts - Assist Overhead Crane Field Service Technician with Modernizing or upgrading various types of cranes, hoists,
components and parts - Assist Overhead Crane Field Service Technician with load testing and /or performing non-destructive testing
various types of cranes, hoists, components and parts - Assist Overhead Crane Field Service Technician in Setting up, operating, and maintaining all service equipment
Responsible for working safely and in accordance with customer, company, and
OSHA requirements. - Display a professional image and conduct at all times, especially when oncustomer
property - Responsible for learning and understanding various crane type codes and inspection criteria
Assist Overhead Crane Field Service Technician with inspecting hoists, cranes, crane systems, chain falls,
pullers, slings and below-the-hook devices - Complete daily paperwork accurately including time-entry
- Assist Overhead Crane Field Service Technician with special projects as requested
- Keep training assignments current
- Perform other duties as assigned
- A high school diploma, vocational-technical school or crane training program, trade school,
- Must be a motivated self-starter
- Basic electrical knowledge or training to include three-phase power is preferred
- Basic mechanical knowledge & aptitude
- Basic mechanical and/or electrical troubleshooting & diagnostics skills
- Ability to understand and comprehend electrical motor and variable frequency drive training
- Previous overhead crane service experience preferred but not required
- Ability to operate forklift
- Ability to operate aerial lift equipment
- Must be able to work individual or as part of a team
- Must be comfortable working at heights
- Must be proficient in "CUSTOMER SERVICE" skills
- Short term over-night travel may be required
- Strong communication skills needed
- Willingness to stay educated in the crane industry. As cranes become increasingly
savvy
- Current Driver’s License in good standing
- Flexible work schedule in order to meet customer's scheduling requirements.
- Heavy lifting/pulling (min 75 lbs) is generally a part of this type of work
- Must successfully complete a criminal background check, physical, drug screen and E-verify
