Summary

Maverick is seeking a Business Development Administrator (“BDA”) to oversee all aspects of our sales administration process. As a key member of our Business Development team, the BDA will identify, research & analyze opportunities for new business and nurture strategic relationships with both new and existing customers. Moreover, the BDA will oversee the full life cycle of the bid process including identifying opportunities that align with our strategy, creating compelling and persuasive proposals, responding to all requests for information, while adhering to both the organization and 3rd party portal standards. High performers in this role are adept at cross functional coordination to craft state-of-the-art proposals and develop winning presentations that effectively communicate the value and benefits of a product, service, project, or initiative to potential clients, customers, investors, or other stakeholders. This position requires superior project management abilities, proposal development experience, and outstanding writing & editing skills.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough market research to identify potential clients and bid opportunities. Understand our customer as well as our competition to fashion proposals that tailor to customer needs while offering a compelling value proposition versus our competitors.
  • Develop clear, concise, and well-structured proposals including graphics that address the client's requirements. This includes outlining the project scope, objectives, methodology, timeline, deliverables, and pricing.
  • Collaborate with the business development team to onboard new clients and ensure a smooth transition from initial sales to account management. Assist in building long-term relationships to remain engaged with client needs.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, market dynamics, and emerging technologies that could impact the company’s business. Assist with developing the business development strategy using market intelligence.
  • Oversee the bid process from start to finish, ensuring that all necessary steps and tasks are completed in a timely manner. This includes reviewing RFP documents, assessing bid requirements, and determining resource needs.
  • Develop and maintain a bid schedule, tracking key milestones, deliverables, and submission deadlines. Coordinate with stakeholders to gather inputs, monitor progress, and manage potential delays to ensure on-time bid submissions.

Skills & Abilities

  • Strong written communication skills with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and concisely. Demonstrated proficiency in grammar, spelling, punctuation, and formatting.
  • Understanding of business principles, market dynamics, and competitive landscape to effectively position the proposed solution.
  • Flexibility to quickly grasp new concepts, industries, or subject matters and adapt writing style accordingly.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills to handle multiple bids simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with clients and key stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills to analyze bid requirements, identify gaps, and propose solutions.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Communications, Marketing, Business Administration, English, or Journalism preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with proposal management tools or software such as Adobe InDesign preferred.
  • Familiarity with the Engineering & Utility Industry proposal process.
  • Professional certifications or additional training in proposal writing a plus.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug and background screen.
