MANATT, PHELPS & PHILLIPS LLP is Hiring an Electronic Resource Manager Near Los Angeles, CA

We currently have an opportunity for an Electronic Resource Manager in our Los Angeles office. This role will manage all Firm library resources, as well as vendor relationships and the library budget.

Essential Job Functions:

Library Resource Management

  • Manage all library resources in both print and electronic formats.
    • Purchase, vet and assess potential materials.
    • Oversee and process requests for access and deletion.
    • Create e-resource lists specific to business units.
    • Partner with the Director in determining appropriate resources for projects.
    • Direct the on-site filer.
  • Ensure functionality of library inventory system and all resources and links.
  • Direct training and manage access for incoming professionals, summer associates and analysts.
  • Troubleshoot issues with database user access.
  • Manage Library newsletters including setting automated or manual delivery to subscribers.
  • Administer Prenax (periodicals jobber)
  • Manage library Outlook inboxes.
  • Develop and maintain instruction manuals and policy documents.
  • Update the Library’s resources pages on the firm’s intranet – OneManatt.
  • Other projects as required.

Vendor Management

  • Responsible for the ongoing review of vendor contracts, and negotiation of vendor contracts.
  • Manage vendor relationships by attending vendor meetings to keep abreast of new products, attend demonstrations and provide updates and feedback to research team.
  • Alert research team to new product developments and upgrades.

Budget Management

  • Responsible for library accounting including invoicing and credit card processing and allocation.
  • Serve as liaison between vendors and Manatt Accounting department.
  • Track performance under and compliance with the annual budget; identify and resolve variances between budget projections and reconciliations.

Qualifications:

  • 5 years related experience as a Library manager in a law firm.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Experience with legal literature, including loose-leaf filing.
  • Knowledge of Integrated Library Systems (ILS), familiarity with catalog and circulation modules, highly desirable.
  • Ability to lead within a team environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Must have the ability to work with a diverse group of legal and non-legal professionals.

The base annual pay range for this role is between $85,000-$94,000. The base pay to be offered will vary and depend on skills and qualifications, experience, location and will also take into account internal equity. A full range of medical, financial and/or other benefits dependent on the position will also be offered.
