Role Summary:

The Head of Finance will be instrumental in steering the financial direction and growth of our Series A defense startup, specializing in the manufacturing of high-volume weapons systems. This executive role demands a unique combination of financial acumen, strategic thinking, and leadership skills to guide the Finance department in achieving both short-term objectives and long-term fiscal sustainability.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Financial Strategy and Planning:
   Formulate and execute a robust financial strategy that aligns with the company’s long-term goals and market opportunities.

2. Budget Oversight:
   Develop and manage annual budgets across departments, ensuring alignment with the company’s strategic initiatives.

3. Capital Allocation:
   Assess and optimize the allocation of capital for R&D, manufacturing, and operational needs.

4. Risk Management:
   Identify financial risks and develop mitigation plans to safeguard the company’s assets and interests.

5. Financial Reporting:
   Oversee quarterly and annual financial reporting, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and stakeholder expectations.

6. Cash Flow Management:
   Monitor and optimize cash flows to ensure liquidity and financial stability for ongoing operations and future growth.

7. Investor Relations:
   Build and maintain relationships with investors, shareholders, and financial institutions to secure necessary capital.

8. Team Leadership:
   Assemble and mentor a high-performance finance team capable of executing the department’s initiatives.

9. Cross-Departmental Coordination:
   Collaborate with other departments, especially Procurement and Manufacturing, to achieve cost efficiencies and financial synergies.

10. Audit and Compliance:
    Ensure the company meets all legal obligations concerning financial practices, tax payments, and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 8 years of experience in corporate finance, preferably in the defense or manufacturing sectors.

• At least 3 years in an executive or leadership role.

• Strong background in financial modeling, budgeting, and strategic planning.

• Mastery of accounting software and financial analysis tools.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field, such as MBA.

The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offers may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations.
