Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary is Hiring an Accounts Receivable Specialist Near Louisville, KY

Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary is looking for an experienced accounting professional to join our team. Reporting to the Controller, The Accounts Receivable Specialist will own the entire Accounts Receivable function, which consists of invoicing, receiving and collecting student tuition and fees, rental revenues, and other monies due to the Seminary. This multifaceted role involves the maintenance of all students' financial transactions, participation in the annual audit process, and providing financial support to other Seminary auxiliaries such as the Counseling Center, Facilities Rental Operations and Campus Food Service. The AR Specialist also performs other administrative and analytical duties and works closely with Financial Aid and the Registrar.

The ideal candidate will possess proficiency in student accounting procedures, expertise in financial accounting, and a strong understanding of international students' financial matters. Familiarity with Online Giving Platforms (i.e. GiveButter, Blackbaud, etc.), STRIPE/SQUARE Terminals and the ability to perform monthly reconciliations are also essential for success in this position.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP:

Controller

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Invoice student tuition and housing each semester
  • Prepare and analyze financial reports related to student accounts, including revenue,
  • receivables, and collections, ensuring correct charges; communicate any concerns with Financial Aid & Registrar
  • Review Student loan activity and record in general ledger
  • Monitor student accounts and request checks for credit balances
  • Invoice retirees for continued medical benefits as needed
  • Receive/post receipt of payments (online and in-person)
  • Maintain appropriate documentation of all payments received
  • Prepare bank deposits & verify deposits against the daily cash totals
  • Perform monthly reconciliations for accurate and timely financial reporting; Identify and resolve discrepancies promptly
  • Reconcile, prepare and mail 1099 and 1098 tax forms at calendar year end
  • Maintain leases along with move in/move out inspection forms and issue keys for students
  • Utilize analytics to identify trends for process improvement or enhancement of existing policies
  • Assist with daily administrative tasks
  • Other duties as assigned

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & CHARACTERISTICS:

  • Commitment to the mission, values and success of Louisville Seminary
  • Bachelor's or Associates degree in accounting, and/or equivalent work experience in finance or accounting roles
  • Minimum of 5 years total accounting experience with at least 2 years relevant non-profit accounting experience with a preference in higher education
  • Proficient in accounting software (Great Plains, Sage Intacct), the Microsoft Office suite of products and Student Information Systems such as Populi, preferred
  • Attention to detail and accuracy; timeline oriented
  • Solid communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Personal qualities of integrity and collegiality
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and schedule tasks
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality, professionalism and discretion.
  • Ability to promote and maintain a positive work environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with persons from diverse racial, cultural and religious backgrounds
  • Ability to look for innovative solutions that promote efficiency for both time and cost; understanding that ministry is our primary focus of church staff

COMPENSATION:

Full-time, non-exempt position offering a full range of benefits, including 403B pension benefit, and health insurance.
