Loffredo Fresh Foods is seeking a full time Accounts Payable Specialist to join the Accounting team in Des Moines. Loffredo Fresh Foods, headquartered in Des Moines, Iowa, is a 130 year old family owned and operated wholesale food distribution Company with six locations throughout the Midwest. Loffredo Fresh Foods primarily services the food service industry, including restaurants, schools, hospitals, and event centers.
We are searching for a detailed and dependable financial specialist to join our team to help process, track, and record payments in an accurate, efficient, and timely manner. The AP Specialist will have a daily, ongoing impact on financial transactions, keeping us on track, on time, and on good terms with our valued partners
Responsibilities
- Review and process AP invoices daily; including printing, matching and entering vouchers. Ensure compliance with company policies.
- Work with buyers to resolve pricing and quantity discrepancies outside the acceptable level of tolerance.
- Prioritize invoice processing to take advantage of prompt pay discounts and adhere to agreed-upon payment terms.
- Monitor the AP inbox – work through and respond to inquiries and resolve issues.
- Verify and investigate discrepancies, if any, by reconciling vendor accounts and monthly vendor statements
- Prepare year-end 1099 forms.
Qualifications
- 2 years experience working in Accounts Payable or accounting
- Ability to work independently with strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Self-motivated, reliable and trusted team player
- Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounts payable principles
- Data entry skills along with a knack for numbers
- Hands-on experience with spreadsheets and proprietary software
