Athene is Hiring an Accounts Payable Specialist Near Des Moines, IA
- Primary responsibility is reviewing employee T&E expenditures for compliance with Company policies requesting additional information as needed before approving reimbursements. Supports employees with questions regarding Concur and policy compliance.
- Assists with processing vendor maintenance requests including assigning tax classifications in accordance with W-9/W-8 tax forms and verifications on the IRS website.
- Assists with reviewing and processing invoices including identifying discrepancies and taking appropriate resolution steps in a timely manner.
- Monitors Accounts Payable emails researching and responding to requests.
- Prepares and distributes monthly and quarterly reports.
- Serves as a technical resource within Accounts Payable and communicates key business understanding across other business units.
- Acts as a backup for processing payment uploads for contractors and municipal taxes.
- Backs up other positions and performs other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or an equivalent combination of education and applicable experience preferred.
- A minimum of 2 years Accounts Payable experience including T&E reviews required.
- Strong attention to detail and proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills including the ability to influence others and communicate internally and externally across all levels and areas of the organization.
- Ability to make decisions, use independent judgment, establish priorities, and work effectively on multiple initiatives concurrently both individually and as part of a team.
- Prior experience using Concur or other T&E applications and Accounts Payable workflow applications such as Cor360 preferred.
- Adhere to federal accounting standards including SOX, FASB, and GAAP and established accounting controls, procedures, and industry best practices.
