Description

Human Resources Generalist
Location: Life Chiropractic College West
Fully Onsite Position in Hayward, CA 

Position Details:

  • Salary Range: $66,650 - $71,000 annually 
  • Full-Time, Exempt
  • 40 hours per week
  • No remote or hybrid option

Purpose:

Under general supervision of the Director of Human Resources and Campus Culture, the Human Resources Generalist works closely and consultatively with staff, faculty and students, and other members of our campus community in the following areas to independently carry out policies and programs covering duties such as employment recruitment & interviewing, wage and salary administration, on & off boarding of staff; compliance management; employee relations; training and development; HRIS/data administration;
reporting and related activities. They will also provide support in various other functional areas of human resources; including but not limited to personnel records maintenance; campus activity planning; campus communication plus many other areas.

The role works independently, interacting with peers, campus leaders, and students as needed. The Human Resources Generalist acts as the point of contact for all LCCW employees, students, candidates and customers to answer Human Resource general questions and direct them to the appropriate channels.

In addition, the Human Resources Generalist will assist the Sr. Human Resources Generalist and Executive Director of Human Resources and Campus Culture in being responsible for continuously improving college culture, engagement, diversity, equity and inclusion, employee and faculty satisfaction, and the campus community environment congruent with the chiropractic lifestyle. The Human Resources Generalist contributes to this goal through the design and implementation of all human resources and community initiatives.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Coordinates and assists with inquiries related to the annual performance review process. 
  • Compile faculty adjunct offer letters quarterly. 
  • Administers FMLA and other leaves of absence.
  • Coordinates Worker’s Compensation administration. 
  • Manage requisitions and applicants in the Applicant Tracking System (Paycom) 
  • Screens candidates, schedules interviews, and participates in employment interviews.
  • Extends employment offers and replies to applicants’ request of application status.
  • Conducts new hire orientation and manages the onboarding process of faculty, staff, and work-study student members.
  • Conducts training programs for employees designed to improve communication and conflict resolution.
  • Assists with coordination of employee meetings and events as needed. 
  • Conducts interviews, new hire orientations and exit interviews as needed.
  • Participates in the development, interpretation, and communication of human resources items.
  • Ensures compliance with state, federal, and local laws.
  • Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, Clery Act, Title IX, etc. 
  • Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
  • Manages employee recognition programs and service awards. .
  • Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Human Resources, or related field or equivalent experience.
  • 2-4 years of progressive human resources experience, preferably in higher education 
  • Considerable skill in interviewing techniques.
  • Ability to effectively manage competing priorities and ad-hoc requests.
  • Thorough knowledge of federal and state employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Able to work and operate independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS and talent management systems.
