Position: Resident Engineer
Reports to: Project Manager
General Qualities
- Strong written and oral communication skills to lead the construction inspection staff.
- Proactive self-starter capable of setting a positive example for the staff.
- Provides technical and management support to the Department Manager/Regional Manager/Project Manager.
- Has full technical and administrative responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating projects/assignments.
- Manages a major complex project and/or several routines/fewer complex projects.
Technical Responsibilities:
- Responsible for managing the daily operations of the construction inspection team.
- Attending and managing progress meetings.
- Reviewing RFI’s and coordinating responses.
- Checking performed work as approved from site specific work plans.
- Preparing daily Resident Engineer and monthly progress reports.
- Reviewing construction schedules.
- Coordinating the inspection activities and quality control inspection.
- Confirming that the work adheres to the specific contract requirements.
- Resident Engineering Inspection and project management, construction supervision, project evaluations, scheduling, and technical inspection.
- Maintaining and following KSE’s health and safety procedures as well as firm various policies and procedures.
- Processing of change orders, payment approval, punch lists, and projects close-out procedures.
- Interacting and liaising with community boards, the public, and city, state, and federal agencies.
- Responsive to Client and other KSE Managers/needs.
Requirements:Educational Qualifications/Professional Licenses
- BSc degree in engineering from an accredited college.
- PE License NYS
- Certifications such as ACI, SAT, TCP, NACE, AWS, NICET and OSHA 10 hours are preferred.
Experience:
- 5 years of relevant experience in construction inspection or management of infrastructure construction projects.
- Prior experience in the reconstruction/rehabilitation of roadways and highways, utility work, as well as installation and replacement of sewers and water mains.
- Prior experience with NYCDOT and NYCDDC.
Professional Development
- Actively participates in professional societies, industry organizations, and local civic organizations.
- Encourages professional development and training and licensing (self and staff).
