Katmai is Hiring an Administrative Assistant II (Veteran Initiative) Near Atlanta, GA

Job Description:


WORK SCHEDULE:

40 hours per week. May be required to work additional hours as needed to complete an assignment or project.

SUMMARY:

Assist in planning and directing specific programs in the Human Resources Office (HRO), includes developing, planning, and directing projects of special significance; contacting Chief Information Officers (CIOs) within the agency and other agencies, outside organizations, and the general public associated with such projects; assist in informing and educating key stakeholders about project goals activities; and assist in communications, research, review, collection, maintenance, and publication of data regarding research or project activities priorities in support of the Human Resources Office (HRO) of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) mission.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Assist with developing collaboratively partners with CIOs to promote a veteran-friendly organization.
    • Coordinates the outreach and recruitment of veterans and military-affiliated students through pipeline opportunities through our Data Scientist Recruitment and Retention Team (DSRRT).
    • Assist with advocating for Veterans regarding their Veteran concerns.
    • Assist with development and administing programs, trainings and services to raise awareness and understanding of the unique needs of veterans to remove barriers to their success (internally and externally).
    • Assist with developing a CDC Veterans Council with representatives from each CIO.
    • Assist Program Lead with the facilitatation and compliance of federal, state, and other agencies by aiding Program Lead with developing policies, reports, procedures, and forms to meet the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs laws governing Veterans at our agency.
    • Participate in active Veterans networks.
    • Evaluate projects whose operations is within the office purview – this includes gathering data about the program, analyzing, and making determination as to its success and efficiency.
    • Conduct significant amounts of research, and synthesizes and present as directed, providing instructions or presenting the findings of research.
    • Provide phasing and scheduling of projects and responsible for tracking project changes and procedures.
    • Assist with documentation of best practices and reports, including writing/editing and other materials.
    • Participate in development of special projects regarding program activities as well as cross unit projects.
    • Review quarterly reports.
    • Develop and maintains a detailed project schedule which includes administrative tasks and all sites involved in the project.
    • Assist in designing comprehensive marketing tools to promote CDC as a Veteran-friendly agency for hiring purposes to prospective Veterans, their spouses and families.
    • Engage in social media on behalf of our Veterans programs and activities at the agency.
    • Assist with measuring the efficiency of the program through assessment planning and coordination.
    • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
    • Other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Frequent sitting, using hands/fingers, handling, reaching with hands and arms, talking, hearing and seeing up close, at a distance, along the periphery, with depth perception and the ability to adjust focus; occasional walking or standing, occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs. WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work is performed primarily in an office setting. Employee will be exposed to a wide variety of clients in differing functions, personalities, and abilities.

Job Requirements:


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience working within the U.S. military, Veteran’s Affairs, or military assistance programs – strongly desired.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience with VA benefits, military chapters, and certification for educational benefits - preferred.
  • Research, policy, human capital, human resources, healthcare, and public health project management experiences.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite products (i.e. MS Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).
  • Experience with managing business social media accounts.
  • Demonstrated experience with commonly used higher education software and applications (PeopleSoft, Zoom).
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Homeland Security Presidential Directive (HSPD)-12.

  • Excellent written communication skills to perform accurate documentation, both written and electronic, of all activity in accordance with requirements.
  • Ability to work in a diverse, flexible, deadline-driven, government environment.
  • Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; monitors own work to ensure quality.
