Job Description
Job Title: Senior Business Systems Analyst
Work Location: Woodland Hills, CA or Remote
Start Date: 05/01/2023
Estimated End Date: 12/31/2023 (Possible conversion to FTE)
Pay rate: $70 - $74/hr
- Must be willing to work Pacific time zone hours.
- Possibility to convert to FTE
Job Summary: For a big long-term project in the Royalties field, we are currently seeking a Senior Business Systems Analyst with very strong data analysis skills. The core responsibility of this role will be to understand the functional requirements and make sure all data needed to implement the required solutions will be provided by the source systems in a quality and structure that can be processed by the development team. In addition, there will be a strong focus on cut-over planning and supporting the data migration from the existing systems into the new solution.
Job Functions:
Collaborate with the Scrum team/technical staff/source application teams:
- Effectively communicate the business requirements to technical staff.
- Assist in design of the proposed technical solution to the business need.
- Break down business requirements into concise JIRA tickets (Epics, User Stories, Tasks) and define Acceptance Criteria.
- Answer questions and resolve ambiguities for the developers and QA Engineers during development.
- Ensure that the software meets project objectives and customer expectations.
- Be the main point of contact for communication between the project team and the source system owners.
Data analysis:
- Understand the data available in the source systems and the data needs of the required solution.
- Prepare data mapping and interface contract documents.
- Analyze the data to identify trends and patterns.
- Analyze the quality of the data and identify gaps and potential problems for the solution.
- Develop reports and presentations to communicate findings to stakeholders.
- Help preparing the cutover and data migration plan.
Provide ongoing application support:
- Document and track reported problems and issues with the application throughout the different test phases and after go-live. Escalate problems as required.
- Research and resolve issues related to application defects. Coordinate resolution with the technical team and the user community.
- Assist user management in defining required changes in business processes and documents the required changes.
- Create application documentation for end-users and technical staff, provide training as needed.
Job Requirements:
Essential:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, or a related field
- 5 years of experience in business systems and/or data analysis
- Experience in gathering specifications in big development projects for web-based applications
- Experience in working in Agile teams
- Strong data analysis skills
- Strong understanding of business systems analysis and design techniques
- Expert writing skills of requirements and technical documentation
- Expert knowledge of tools like Jira, Confluence, Teams, SharePoint
- Strong SQL and Excel skills
- Solid understanding of data modelling, web (UI/UX) and API development
- Experience with AWS, Redshift, authentication and authorization technologies a plus
- Eager to learn
- Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills
- Detail-oriented and capable of delivering a high level of accuracy
- Strong communication and organization skills
- Team player, who also can work independently
- Ability to work efficiently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Willing to work flexible hours for collaboration with the off-shore team
