POSITION SUMMARY:
Through job shadowing and mentorship, this entry level Associate Account Manager will learn to identify and assess sales opportunities, manage relationships and implement sales strategies in order to gain market share within assigned sales territory.The expectation is to consistently provide excellent customer service, represent client needs, build relationships with clients to encourage new and repeat business opportunities while maintaining the goals within the organization to ensure quality.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: may include any or all of the following.
  • Develop working knowledge of the company, industry, products and customers.
  • Learn and/or enhance sales skills through job shadowing and mentorship.
  • Participate in sales process by traveling with existing Account Managers to attend sales and service calls.
  • Call on existing and new accounts, adhering to established sales processes.
  • Develop basic knowledge and understanding of financial accounting terms and principals including Gross Margin, Gross Margin %, Operating Income, and EBITDA.
  • Develop and execute plans to maintain and grow the existing customer base.
  • Establish and maintain clear and consistent lines of communication with internal departments relative to customer successes, customer failures, new customer developments and other customer specific information.
  • Work closely with managers to assist in promoting sales and customer management within assigned territory.
  • Keep management informed of territory performance, personal performance and market trends.
  • Provide regular input and CRM documentation on all account activity and opportunities, including status and call reports on a weekly basis.
  • Special projects as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (COMPETENCY STATEMENTS):
  • Ability to develop basic sales skills to become a talented sales professional.
  • Drive to contribute to the revenue growth of a sales territory.
  • Ability to develop long-term business relationships with customers.
  • Ability to assist customers with product availability, pricing and order status.
  • Demonstrated above average written and verbal communication skills needed to influence without direct authority.
  • Ability to negotiate with customers and internal contacts to reach mutually beneficial solutions.
  • Ability to effectively interact with internal customers and upper management to ensure that all requirements are being met.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to prioritize work to meet deadlines.
SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Education & Experience:
  • Associate's Degree and 0 - 2 years of sales/account manager experience; or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Sales or relevant field, preferred.
  • Sales experience and industry experience, preferred.
Computer skills:
  • Intermediate level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Applications used frequently.
