Program Description:

We are looking for Information Technology (IT), Engineering, and Science majors that are Junior, Senior, or Graduate candidates to join one of the best places to work in the Tampa Bay area. All students from an accredited college or university are eligible to apply. If you are not an IT, Engineering, and Science major but can show past or current projects (e.g. software development) you are also eligible for consideration.

All Research Assistants MUST be eligible to obtain Department of Defense clearance. This includes: Clean criminal background, clean financial background, US Citizenship.

University of South Florida (USF) is managing this Research Assistance Program and you will be a paid employee through USF regardless of which college or university in which you are currently enrolled. Iron EagleX (IEX) will be providing mentorship and project experience. Additionally, you will receive professional certifications depending on which role you are performing. We will be developing career tracks for: Data Scientist, Data Engineer, Platform Engineer, DevOps Engineer, and Software Engineers with potential for full time employment with IEX at the end of the program.

Skills and Experience to be taught throughout the program:

• Create visualizations and tools to allow users to leverage AI/ML, complex algorithms, and advanced analytics through intuitive interfaces
• The candidate will learn advanced analytical knowledge of data and be capable of learning big data analysis; performing data conditioning; programming advanced computing; developing algorithms, software and AI/ML models; executing advanced analytics; and utilizing visualization tools to take advantage of the growing volume of available information
• Acquire and assemble large, complex datasets that align with USSOCOM enterprise
• Building, testing, and maintaining data infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources using modern data
• Create and maintain optimal data pipeline architecture and support associated process improvements for automating manual processes, data delivery, and infrastructure re-design for scalability
• Develop analytics tools and transformative algorithms for data to provide actionable insights into customer processes, operational efficiency, and other key business performance metrics
• Create new data validation methods for analytics and data scientist team members that assist them in building and optimizing products to fulfill customer objectives
• Working with large data sets and with distributed computing technologies such as MapReduce/Hadoop
• Utilize industry standard tools such as Gitlab, Jira, and confluence for code version control, project management, product requirements, and user documentation
• Create, extract, and load (ETL) pipelines using Hadoop and Apache Airflow for various production big data sources to fulfill data availability requirements
• Learn search and reporting tools such as Apache Spark, Jasper, Pentaho or similar
• Learn to define and document appropriate advanced analytic methods, predictive analysis, pattern analysis, and the like
• Unit testing and associated frameworks

• Implementing various development, testing, automation tools, and IT infrastructure
• Setting up tools and required infrastructure
• Defining and setting development, test, release, update, and support processes for DevOps operation
• Provides infrastructure and systems integration for DevOps environment
• Designs and maintains roles and playbooks in development, test, and production environments to enforce system standardization and to maintain configuration management
• Execute complex projects within defined timelines across a geographically dispersed workforce and user base
• Ability to communicate data analysis results in a clear and concise manner to a variety of technical and non-technical audiences
• Work independently and on teams and have excellent time management and work prioritization skills
