Position Highlights:
Works independently, under the guidance of the Division Administrator, Pathology and working closely with the Pathology Chair, Vice-Chairs, Medical/Program Directors and the faculty from the Department of Pathology. The Manager, Pathology Translational Research is directly responsible for the core administrative functions supporting all research activities for the Pathology Physician Practice. The position is responsible for developing short and long-range strategic plans to enhance the research and educational goals for the Department of Pathology and Moffitt Research Institute. Administrative oversight include financial management of all technical and professional billing for services provided for clinical research at the Anatomic Pathology Lab, Clinical Lab including the Bone Marrow Procedure Suits, Advances Diagnostic Pathology Lab residing at the Moffitt Magnolia Campus (MCC), Moffitt Immuno- Oncology and Molecular Service (MIOMS), Clinical Support Building (CSB), Moffitt McKinley Hospital (MMH), Moffitt International Plaza (MIP), and Moffitt McKinley Outpatient Clinic (MKC) and future expansion outreach satellites.
The Manager, Pathology Translational Research is a key leadership role that supports the Department of Pathology in a increasingly complex, interdependent and rapidly changing operational and regulatory environment. This position is responsible for over 200 new clinical trials plus amendments every year including industry sponsor, IITs, academic collaborations and internal Pathology research projects. Clinical trials supported by the Department of Pathology has institutional impact and operational procedures, communications, and collaborations that are critical for the success of Moffitt research strategy. The Manager, Pathology Translational Research is an integral and highly visible member of the Pathology leadership team, tasked with a wide variety of assignments both internal and external to the organization. The role requires the ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams to achieve all research, operational, and finance goals. The Manager, Pathology Translational Research will represent the Department of Pathology in research strategy meetings with other programs from the institution and will ensure that patient safety and patient care are the primary goal in any research supported by the Department of Pathology.
Responsibilities:
  • Manage and organize research operations within the Department of Pathology to support internal and institutional clinical research projects that impact patient safety and patient care.
  • Financial management of all Pathology research activities, projects and initiatives. Control of budgets and financial flows between cost centers. Responsible and primary contact for accounting concerns related to finance research activities.
  • Manage communication between the faculty from the Department of Pathology and clinicians, industry sponsors and any internal and/or external research collaboration.
  • Lead research administration and operational support.
  • Oversees personnel management
Credentials and Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Medicine, Biology, Health Science or related field required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of clinical or research laboratory experience in a fast-paced, complex laboratory environment with a high volume of complete testing and highly proficient in finance and budgets.
  • Demonstrated clinical research development strategist with experience designing, implementing and operation clinical research.
  • Total experience is inclusive of 2 or more years of supervisor and/or leadership experience.
Preferred:
  • Master’s Degree in Business, Medicine, Biology, Health Science or related field.
  • CCRP certification.
