Job Description Summary:

In the role of Director, Human Resources, you will be overseeing the administration of the human resources function for ION Clean Energy and be responsible for developing and ensuring effective implementation of plans, systems, policies and processes for workforce planning, talent acquisition, talent management and development, employee engagement, legal compliance and recordkeeping, employee relations, employee compensation and benefits, and performance management.


Responsibilities
:


Employee Policies and Legal Compliance

  • In conjunction with senior management, support the initiative to improve and maintain HR policies, SOPs, and necessary HR documents. Ensure adherence to policies and provide training and support to the organization.
  • Partner with General Counsel to deliver an exceptional Employee Relations and Compliance program supporting employees in accordance with applicable employment laws, the Employee Handbook, various reporting obligations, and required legal notifications and submissions.
  • Keep up to date with industry trends and best practices to ensure the company remains competitive in attracting and retaining top talent.
  • Keep up to date with the legislative changes to ensure the company remains compliant with legal requirements.
  • Maintain data integrity and confidentiality of payroll, HR, and other files.


Recruiting & Onboarding

  • Partner with business hiring managers in the recruitment of new employees, including applicant screening interviews, logistical support, onboarding and training and review and selection of any 3rd party recruiting/staffing resources required.
  • Ensure job descriptions are documented for all positions and reviewed by new employees.
  • Identify priority needs and requirements of Human Resources team at ION to identify and staff the development of the Human Resources department.


Employee Benefits
and Compensation Administration

  • Assist senior management in identifying, evaluating and implementing high-quality employee benefit offerings.
  • Organize and lead the development of benefit communications, orientations and related trainings, as well as on-going support.
  • Oversee annual merit increase process, promotions, etc. and work with management team and appropriate vendors to ensure the Company's pay structure is competitive within the market.
  • Support the Accounting Department in the accurate processing of employee payroll and other employee benefits.


Employee Relations and Engagement

  • Support performance management, goal setting, periodic reviews, and ad hoc opportunities for improvement and coaching of ION team.
  • Oversee alignment of senior management’s organizational objectives with employee goal setting.
  • Develop and support programs that drive a positive culture and employee engagement through programs such as onboarding, rewards and recognition, and the goal-setting and quarterly review process.
  • Advise and coach managers through employee discipline processes and monitor their implementation with underperforming employees.
  • Manage employee separations, ensuring appropriate policy/procedure compliance.
  • Serve as an initial point of contact for employee relations and workers compensation matters.


Qualifications
:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to build effective work relationships at all levels, influence behavior and lead.
  • Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment, including Excel and Word.
  • Honesty and integrity, with high standards for confidentiality.
  • Good communication and personal task management skills.
  • High level of self-motivation and initiative.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • A creative and disciplined approach to problem-solving.
  • Experience with compensation and benefits aspect of human resources with proven success metrics.
  • Knowledge of and experience with varied human resource information systems.
  • Strong sense of emotional intelligence, humor and approachability – ability to stay calm under pressure.


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Human Resources, Business Administration or Organizational Development.
  • 7-10 years of work experience in a Human Resources capacity.
  • Previous experience working in a government contracting environment is preferred.
  • HR certification (e.g. PHR, SHRM) strongly preferred.


What We Offer:

  • The salary for this position generally ranges between $135,000-$195,000 annually. This range is an estimate, based on potential qualifications and operational needs and may vary above and below the stated amounts.
  • Additionally, this position will receive a grant of stock options and is eligible for an annual bonus based on performance of the individual and the company.

Working Conditions:

This position is primarily in office. The work environment and physical demand characteristics are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. The successful candidate will perform primarily sedentary office duties with occasional travel to other offices or customer sites. They may occasionally lift up to 10 pounds and may be required to sit, stand, walk, and use a computer.
