Description: InterAgency is seeking a part-time NEPA Specialist with strong technical writing skills to support the preparation of Environmental Assessments for major infrastructure and resiliency projects in the Washington, DC Metropolitan Area. Projects will include the following:

• Subsurface infrastructure to mitigate flooding impacts.
• Large diameter tunnels to remediate combined sewer overflows (CSOs)
• Redesign of existing sea walls to address sea level rise.
• Bridge construction over navigable waterways

Education and Experience Requirements:

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Planning, or Natural Resources Management Experience: 5 years focused on NEPA
• Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s degree Environmental Science, Planning, or Natural Resources.
• Experience with large scale infrastructure implementation projects.
• Natural and cultural resource management and consultation
• Knowledge of relevant environmental laws and regulations and resource agencies’ permitting processes.

Primary Responsibilities, not limited to:

• Developing technical documents to advance NEPA compliance (EAs, FONSIs, scoping letters, Section 7/Section 106 consultation letters, schedules)
• Facilitating clear communication between the project team and external stakeholders
• Coordinating with Federal, State and Local regulators
• Assisting with the development and negotiation of easements, rights-of-entry, and construction staging agreements
• Collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams
• Supporting cost estimates and proposal efforts

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to perform essential duties satisfactorily with reasonable accommodation.
• Work is generally done sitting, talking, hearing, and typing. Visual acuity to use a keyboard, prepare and analyze data and figures; transcribing, viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.

• Hours: regular business hours, 8:00 am to 5:00 PM (EST).

Compensation:

• Hourly Rate: $72-$86/ hour, commensurate with experience.
• This position does not offer company benefits.
