FYI-For Your Information, Inc. is Hiring a Classification Specialist (part time) Near Washington, DC

As a Classification Specialist you will provide classification expertise to the US Coast Guard. In this key role you will be responsible for classification and position management across the organization. You will provide subject manager expertise and work with a dynamic team of HR professionals.

THIS IS A PART TIME POSITION

Day to Day Responsibilities include:

  • Classifying position descriptions (PDs) and associated evaluation statements in accordance with the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Classification Standards, including, but not limited to the General Schedule Supervisory, Team Leader, Wage Supervisor, and Wage Leader guides.
  • Comparing PDs to other like PDs and classification standards to ensure consistency in establishing compensation levels across a variety of employment programs. Evaluation statements shall be prepared for positions with precedent-setting classification decisions that become the accepted guideline and standard for specialists within the Civilian Human Resources Office.
  • Assisting the Coast Guard in conducting job evaluations in accordance with OPMs Factor Evaluation System (FES), DHS, and Coast Guard policies, directives, and procedures. The Specialist shall upload all documents, data, and/or text into the Coast Guard position classification system.
  • Preparing advisory evaluation statements for positions with precedent-setting classification
  • decisions that become the accepted guideline and standard for specialists within the Human Resource Directorate for review and future use.
  • Submitting modified draft and new PDs electronically to the subject matter experts, Federal HR Specialists, and organizational modification effort managers for comment and approval.

Required skills and qualifications:

  • A minimum of 6 years classification experience.
  • Demonstrated familiarity and working knowledge of HR Connect and USA Staffing.
  • Demonstrated experience with MS Office Suite – PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Federal staffing and recruitment procedures and processes.
  • Highly Desired – Exceptional organizational and planning skills.
  • Highly Desired – Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate across all levels of the organization.
  • Highly Desired – Previous experience managing or influencing work of other.
  • Ability to maintain or obtain Public Trust Clearance.
