General Job Description

IES Residential is one of the nation’s largest residential electrical contractors. We are seeking an Entry-Level Help Desk Technician to join our IES Residential Family in Sugar Land, TX.

Responsibilities as a Helpdesk Technician:

  • Handle incoming calls, assess importance of issues, and escalate as necessary.
  • Perform troubleshooting of end user hardware, applications and more via phone, email and ticketing system.
  • Accurately document troubleshooting steps for each assigned ticket.
  • Respond to tickets within SLA timeframes and provide excellent technical support to end users across the U.S.
  • Setup and configure new workstations and network accounts through Active Directory for new hires, either remotely or in-house.
  • Responsible for maintaining/updating/configuring PC’s, Printers, peripherals, and other software and hardware.
  • Interact with Various Administrators (Network, Infrastructure, and Development) to provide necessary details to assist with resolution of escalated issues.

Specific Qualifications

Specific Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a help desk technician or other customer support role.
  • Must possess at least a High School Diploma or GED equivalency, A certification is a bonus. (Associate’s Degree in IT Field preferred)
  • Good understanding of computer operating systems, mobile devices and peripheral devices such as printers, docking stations, monitors and keyboard/mice.
  • Working knowledge of the below is highly preferred:
    • Windows 10, 11
    • Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, ect.)
    • Adobe Pro
  • Demonstrated ability to document issues with accuracy through writing.
  • Proven verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with end users, team members and executive management.
  • Ability to assess and research computer, printer, phone, and tablet issues.
  • Strong planning and general project management skills.
  • Ability to resolve multiple tickets while managing time effectively and working independently.
  • Must possess proven problem solving and critical thinking skills, as well as flexibility to adapt to a growing environment.
