Accounts Payable Specialist

Job Summary:

The Accounts Payable Specialist manages the Company’s expenses by analyzing invoices and expense reports, resolving accounting discrepancies, and recording expenses to the chart of accounts.

Job Duties:

• Collaborating with internal departments to gather, analyze, and interpret relevant financial data.
• Receiving, processing, verifying, and reconciling invoices.
• Recording expenses in General Ledger through the Accounts Payable Module.
• Ensuring bills are paid in a timely and accurate manner while adhering to departmental procedures.
• Comparing Purchase orders, prices, terms of payment and other charges.
• Verifying vendor account statements to accounting records, and resolving purchase order, invoice, or payment discrepancies.
• Issuing purchase order amendments and stop payments.
• Reconciling account transactions with the general ledger.
• Performing recordkeeping and preparing financial reports.
• Keeping informed of regulatory requirements and best practices in accounting.

Qualifications

Personal Characteristics:

• Competency in accounting and business management software.
• In-depth knowledge of accounts payable principles and accounting standards
• Experience in account reconciliation.
• Attention to detail.
• Great time management and organizational skills.
• Excellent collaboration and communication abilities.

Experience:

• At least 2 years’ experience as an AP Specialist or similar.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to work in a facility that handles allergens including but not limited to: wheat, soy, egg, milk, and tree nuts.
• Must be able to work in open environments exposed to pungent odors and varying climates.
• Prolonged periods of sitting in a chair and working on a computer.
